HEARING PROTECTION ACT HR 3799 Take suppressors off NFA list!

Dear Mr. Leonard,

Thank you for contacting me in support of H.R. 3799, the Hearing Protection Act , introduced by Rep. Matt Salmon (R-AZ). As a gun owner, carry permit holder, lifetime member of the NRA, and the recipient of an A rating for my voting record from Gun Owners of America , I have worked tirelessly to stop the Obama Administration from infringing on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans.

That is why earlier this year I successfully fought alongside my conservative colleagues to stop the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) attempt to ban M855 and SS109 "green tip" ammunition. I am also a cosponsor of H.R. 402, the National Right to Carry Reciprocity Act, which would ensure that conceal carry permits are honored in other conceal carry states, ending the confusing network of state reciprocity agreements. Additionally, I reintroduced my own bill, the FIREARM Act , which would prohibit the ATF from requiring race or ethnicity to be disclosed when purchasing a firearm.

As you may know, firearm sound suppressors have been regulated by the National Firearms Act (NFA) since 1934, but can be legally obtained in 41 states. H.R. 3799 would remove firearm suppressors from the NFA and eliminate the requirement for buyers to apply to the ATF to obtain one. Although suppressors would continue to require background checks, the process would be streamlined and buyers would not have to wait months to complete their purchase.

Currently, H.R. 3799 has been assigned to the Judiciary Committee, which I do not serve on. However, I look forward to reviewing my colleagues' analysis of this legislation, and should I get the opportunity to vote on H.R. 3799, I will carefully consider it with your thoughts in mind. Rest assured, I remain committed to safeguarding our vital Second Amendment rights.

Sincerely,
Signature

If we send up a major stink about it even our current president can't stop it.

Are you truly that naïve? :o

The current POTUS knows no limits in how far he will go in ignoring or disregarding anything that doesn't fit (or opposes) his personal agenda.

Got a non-committal response from Sen Toomey who is on the Judiciary Committee.
No response from Sen Casey but he's an Obama puppet and will do as he's told.

I'm riding in a truck to Alabama right now talking to a friend of Paul Ruan's. We've been discussing this for a little while. He is going to bring it up to Paul next time he sees him.

Small world

Now is the time to contact your politicians, new politicians, and house, senate, and POTUS republican controlled this bill has a chance..

I think the Congress needs to be cautious about some of the legislation they pass right away. It always happens when one party gets both the White House and Congress, a flood of pet legislation gets passed, the populous gets disturbed, next election divided government comes back. We can't afford to lose control of the Senate or the House. There's presently a laundry list of pro-gun bills that folks want to see passed, ranging from CCW reciprocity to silencer deregistration. I think that some of these hold too much potential to be distorted by the left-wing press and politicians to be worth the risk. CCW reciprocity and delisting silencers are two such "hot button" issues we should go slow on. Importation of collectible firearms is probably safer. The most important thing is who sits on the Supreme Court. Everything else is secondary.
