Awhile back there was a thread on headspace measurement and some of the tooling. After reading it, it prompted me to make new refined tooling for myself. I've been meaning to do this for awhile, but always figured what I have is good enough. It was and just as accurate. Pics are the old and the new. The old is the dial indicator and headspace collar. The new is made out of 12L14(cuts like butter). The micrometer head is a 2" Starrett. The tool simply gets calibrated off the face on granite to read zero. The headspace dimension will be the actual measured off the go or no to the face of shoulder. The coned inserts are 25 and 30 degrees to measure cone length. I will have an actual repeatable reference dimension to record. Works slick. I didn't come up with the tool design. Just saw pics and made mine to how I thought it should work.
