Heads Up Bench Shooting?

And by that I mean letting off the shot whilst not looking at the target through the scope. I saw a feller on You Tube doing this and yesterday gave it try with my PPC and Dasher. My groups were a little smaller than usual-- could have just been luck. I held up on several shots because I saw a puff of breeze. I'm a rank amateur, but I was reaching out to see if anyone has tried this or shoots this way in competitions. Thanks for any input.

When the wind is switchy I do this occasionally during a string.

For 5-6 years I watched in amazement a elderly gent shoot free recoil and never once saw him touch off a shot with his eye in the scope. He won a lot and placed just as much.

I do it if conditions are really switching quickly and often. It has worked for me but I am never really comfortable doing it. It requires really good bench manners.

Place the cross hairs and wait ... Ive shot with both eyes open and made no changes of poa but im sure i make sure I'm where i want to be with a quick look.

22 shooting is different. Poa then watch the shooters to both sides so not to shoot at the same time. Then Touch off without looking again.
