Head-scratcher of the week, freebore coming up very short.

The 6.5 aw2 has a .2648 freebore diamer as well. I noticed it was tight. They went .3088 on the 300 prc though. Somethings got missed on that prc design

Hi Alex, I’m about ready to order a no turn 6.5 PRC and was going to order your AW2. If you were going to adjust the freebore on it what would you adjust it to?

I always chamber the drop stub to give a real gauge for checking seating depth. You can check and spin against the shoulder. It's a solid indicator of that reamers work.

Pretty much every new reamer I get I do this. I ream a short stub aka “gizzie” up and into the shoulder to verify the front end of the reamer.

You dont need to its .2648" Saami is .2645"

I've had Berger .30 cal bullets mic .3086 and larger, large enough they wouldn't go through a Hoover caliber sleeve.

I’m currious as to what you are thinking. Could you expand on that question a little? What part of the freebore are you wanting to “adjust”??? Length? Diameter?

Hi WSnyder, in Alex’s post I thought he was saying the freebore on his 6.5 PRC @ .2648 was a little tight, but I misunderstood what he was saying. He had already adjusted the Sammi .2645 freebore on his reamer design.

On the pressure ring those numbers wouldnt bother me. Shank would be a different story
