HBN barrel cleaning

What process do you use when cleaning a barrel that shoots HBN bullets.

Do you oil for long term sitting?
david tubb told me to use sweets when I cleaned mine, when I started using hbn. I scrub with it and then follow up with hoppes #9 powder solvent to coat and protect the barrel.i do need to confess, I didnt clean my barrel till almost 500 rounds (6.5 cm) and it was still shooting great, just figured I better you know. ymmv but thats what I do. good luck with the hbn.;)

Pretty much the same as group therapy. Getting all the copper and powder fouling out tends to remove all the HBN and it takes 20 or shots with coated bullets to be in a good place again. But it takes hundreds of shots to get to a place where I think it might even be needed.

Do you oil or just the hoppes? Do you put HBN back in the barrel to sit?

I will oil for long term sitting, but remove the oil before firing. I do not put HBN back in the barrel before firing, which is why I use 20 shots of coated bullets to settle it back down.

After using what is necessary to remove carbon/copper, I re-coat the bore again with HBN and then one dry patch. My main reason for my using HBN is for that 1st shot being like the rest.

I have followed my regular cleaning regimen and run a final patch with HBN/alcohol suspension. I find the barrel is settled in a couple of shots at most. (6 Creedmoor with 115 DTAC's)
