You know if Powder Valley is raising prices they are paying more on the wholesale level, might be awhile before we see 30.00 per 1000 primers unless you can find some new old stock.

I heard from a very good source that the prices were going to be in the $50 to $60 per thousand range now. This would be right in that range.

I have always noticed with Powder Valley is that when an item has been out of stock for a long time, the prices will be high and after they become in stock, the prices drop.

BUT, if they are listing them again, I bet we may be seeing primers available soon!

expect higher prices on primers, brass, and bullets for a while due to increased cost of metals

a contractor friend say the average cost of a new house today is 50 - 60 K more than it was a year ago due to increased lumber prices so it is not just primers. Thank the Covid19 for increased costs all across the board

I have been catching primers at the local Bass Pro. They have been around $37/K. This week they were $64.

Prices will be up at almost double what we are used to. If availability improves, I am OK with it.

Substantially higher prices on primers due to cost of metals is what's known in the business as "a lie." 1K primers have like half a pound of copper in them? Double the price of copper from where it was forever ($3/lb) (it hasn't) and that's like $1.50 per 1K, or $3 after markups.

Imo, the "new normal" so to speak. Better to have planned ahead and stocked up, or buy as and when you can now at higher prices, before you can't buy at all possibly. ;)

Weaning myself off them. I bought 30,000 Tula LRM primers from the last vendor that had them in this country before they ran out. Now to find a suitable replacement for my next 6br barrel when the time comes.

It's not just powder. Check out the prices on new dies. Used dies are selling for what new dies were a year ago. I think we are seeing the big resetting of pricing due to trillions of new dollars into the economy and less employees and available materials. Like the dirty 30's after the Great Depression.

I’m seeing CCI200 at $45/1000 wholesale so $60/1000 is a good price. 25% margin for the retailer is more than fair (IMHO).

Retailers won’t be able to keep the doors open at 25% margins. Maybe if they had unlimited supply but that’s not going to happen either.

I continue to worry about my favorite hole in the wall little rural LGS. They haven't had much for components in 6 months or more. I try to find something to help support them and hopefully keep them in business. Even firearms are... hit and miss although there have been a few more in the used rack. Ammo.... almost nonexistant. Like others have said , I believe the days of 35/K primers may have faded into the past

Firearm and accessories are a low margin business especially for new firearm sales. Plenty of inventory to sell except for ammo and components. Do $1MM/yr. or more with your distributor’s sales reps and he’ll make sure you have all the guns you want.
