Powder (not Varget) for a 308 that will keep a 175 gr Nosler CC supersonic at 10

+1...go with a .300 win mag...recent article in American Rifleman addressed the exact same topic for the US Military snipers in Afghanistan..the .308 runs out of speed and goes subsonic before 1,000 yds..
My favorite is the Berger 175 VLD at 3,185 Mv from a 26" barrel...75 grains of H-4831sc..in RWS brass.

Even though the OP never came out and said it, I think he's trying to stay within the rules of F-TR competition which means no .300 Win Mag, unless you want to compete in F-Open. And if you go for F-Open, that bullet is probably not the one you would want to use in a .300 Win Mag. I would think that firing 22+ rounds of 75 grains of powder pushing a 175gr bullet from prone, three times in a day will leave an impression on you. I would definitely get my attention and distract me but then again, I am recoil-shy. I love shooting, I hate to get hurt.

Did the article reference the barrel length of the rifles being used and the muzzle velocity of the ammo? ;)

Just to chime in...My .308 Savage shot the Berger 175gr VLDs pretty well with IMR4320. Its about the closest powder to Varget there is (at least according to the burn chart, and my experiences). Thats my new favorite powder because it works in a wide range of cartridges (like Varget) and its cheaper and more widely available.

I have a ftr also. I run 175 noslers. I don't know your elevation I'm at about 3500'. I'm using imr4007sc. The 30" tube burns it great

Gabon, you made my day. I just bought 24lb of IMR 4064 because I could not get Varget anywhere. Whats your load for 100 yards with 175 bullet?
Thanks

Try IMR 4064 and 4895. Both powders will do it no problem and my loads are less than max.

Gabon, 1000 yards :) sorry for typo
