I am resurrecting a new-ish (less than 50 rounds) Remington 700 Varmint rifle w/H-S stock, that was bought to be stripped for the action and stock (the best group it had shot for the owner was 3"), and turned out to suffer from very poor epoxy bedding.

It came with a Timney which was poor, and they replaced it, and the replacement was worse :(

I have several of the HVRTSBR-A triggers in other rifles and they are my favorite.

I have been offered a Jewell with a bottom safety (HVRSBR-A) at a good price, but I know nothing about them.

Can anyone throw some light on these - do they fit with a standard Remington trigger guard? What do they mean when they say the safety knob is reversible??

I've got one, mounted on a Stiller Tac 300 action, in a AICS stock. Not sure if you could access it through a normal M700 trigger guard. And to be honest, I don't think I've ever used the safety. Up to this point, I've always just singe loaded it.

The safety button is reversible , meaning it can be positioned on either side of the actual safety lever. On the outside it could be prone to snagging on something. Put it on the inside and it is a little less likely to get caught.
As far as the trigger guard goes, I'm not sure. Mine is on an Eliseo chassis, but if anything you might have to remove a little material on the trigger guard where the trigger comes through. They're good triggers. If you pass on it, pass it along to me. In need of two more.

Thanks... makes sense.

I will :)

I told the current owner that I would look into it and let him know - If I decide to not take it, and it is still available, I will let you know.

Yes it will work. It is a lot less cluttered than the top lever. Leaving more room for bedding under the action tang trigger area.
