Has anyone found a good 6mm big game bullet that stablizes in 1 in 14' twist?

I know that I can stabilize a .83" long 65 gr Vmax.
I know that a .88" long 75 gr Vmax is only stable down to ~ 3000 fps, and so not good for long range.

I want a 6mm deer bullet that I can shoot in a 1 in 14" twist barrel.

Clark, I have been experimenting with the 80 grain Speer Hot Core in my 6ppc with some pretty amazing 100 yard groups. I haven't tried them on game but they are shooting less than 1/2 moa in my rifle with some vertical that I am still playing with. Tom

Clark, I've been reluctant to mention this because I know I'll get flamed but: I have done some crop depradation work for the past two summers. The wildlife protector is usually waiting for me late in the afternoon and I have to deliver the Deer to him and he takes them to needy families. I shoot out of "box" stands that are set up with sand bags, and an arm rest that is about as stable as a bench rest. Now having said that, I use a 6mmBR with a 65 Gr. Berger BT at about 3375 FPS> I aim for the junction of the shoulder and backbone and they drop in their tracks....Never had a splash with this bullet..The longest shots have been close to 300 yds. Closest shots have been about 50 yds. Last summer, I decided to expermint a little and shot a few just behind the edge of the shoulder. About 40 yds. is the longest run any made and when I got to them, every one had a big "wad" of foam at the mouth. I've been very impressed with this little bullet and it has taken close to 80 deer in the past two summers. I have not has a single one to get away and when Hit at the junction of the shoulder and backbone, they drop in their tracks.....Hope this helps a little...

I am surprised the 85 grain Speer will stabilize in a 14 twist. My program shows that it should have a 1:11 twist. That sure is a nice looking bullet though and I gave it some thought when I began experimenting with the 80 grain Speer in my 14 twist 6ppc. Maybe I should buy a box and give them a whirl also. Tom

the barrel was a re-chambered 6PPC comp barrel to .243W
so it was a 1:14 or a 1:13.5 or something like that and the 85 SPBT worked great

I think I will get some 85 grainers and give them a try. I experienced mostly vertical with the 80's and I loaded some up with a tad more powder in .2 grain increments but haven't made it out to shoot them. The 85 grain bullet might not be going fast enough in my 6ppc but it is a custom action and I can load to the upper window. Thanks for the suggestion. Tom
