The price is exactly why I’m asking…..I have just loaded some up with 185's. Now, if the weather holds ( it's winter here) - I'll let you know! On the face of it, it's OK. At 2/3 price, I'm hoping for goodness.
Please keep me informedI have just loaded some up with 185's. Now, if the weather holds ( it's winter here) - I'll let you know! On the face of it, it's OK. At 2/3 price, I'm hoping for goodness.
I would be far more interested in results on target. Volume variance is little importance to the target.Would be interesting if you compared a sample of fired Lapua cases to fired Starline cases to confirm any volume variance.
The greater the sample size, the less the standard error. MethinksBuy a small sample and test them. Only way you will know for sure and a very small expense in the greater picture. Lapua, as good as it is, it not the only quality brass on the market today. If you start shooting starline and winning with it, it will become the new brass of choice.
The main differences I found between the two (Lapua and Starline) is that Starline has substantially thicker web and the neck wall thickness was thinner. Along with that I found the virgin case volume to be to be pretty consistent and average 54.0 grs of H2O, .7 grs less than Lapua. Keep in mind this only has to do with the particular cases I have and measured, since such numbers can vary from lot to lot where there could be greater or lesser differences. But, I think the difference in web thickness isn't going to show much change. To starline srp .308 brass ? If so what did you find?
Was there different brass prep required like uniforming primer pockets etc…..I replaced Lapua with Starline on my ar 10 in 6 creed srp and it shot identical at 100 same load data.
Got tired of ar beating the crap out of good Lapua brass
None outside of resizing. Was there different brass prep required like uniforming primer pockets etc…..
