Has anyone compared Lapua .308 srp…

I have just loaded some up with 185's. Now, if the weather holds ( it's winter here) - I'll let you know! On the face of it, it's OK. At 2/3 price, I'm hoping for goodness.

I have had zero complaints of Starline Brass in numerous calibers. Good stuff! I have used them for the last couple of .260AI rifles I have built and I haven't lost a case yet in the fire forming process. Last batch of Lapua I did that with I lost 3 or 4 to split necks after forming.

Their pistol brass has been outstanding, but I haven't used any of their rifle brass. Dimension have been very close, and the wight spread was small. Lot-to-lot variations were also small. I would expect good things.

Buy a small sample and test them. Only way you will know for sure and a very small expense in the greater picture. Lapua, as good as it is, it not the only quality brass on the market today. If you start shooting starline and winning with it, it will become the new brass of choice.

Would be interesting if you compared a sample of fired Lapua cases to fired Starline cases to confirm any volume variance.
I would be far more interested in results on target. Volume variance is little importance to the target.

Don’t use it !!!

I have 200pc of 222Rem, reformed to 20-221AI of which 25 pc have 27 firings on them.. just to see how the primer pocket will hold up .. still shooting them today…

So I don’t own a 308….
Sorry couldn’t help ya..

I have SRP lapua and starline match 308, their srp. I can't tell a difference in them yet. Both have numerous firings on them and no difference noted in accuracy. Would need to check my notes but I think starline is just a few fps faster than lapua with all things being equal otherwise, but only a few, not much.

The greater the sample size, the less the standard error. Methinks

To starline srp .308 brass ? If so what did you find?
The main differences I found between the two (Lapua and Starline) is that Starline has substantially thicker web and the neck wall thickness was thinner. Along with that I found the virgin case volume to be to be pretty consistent and average 54.0 grs of H2O, .7 grs less than Lapua. Keep in mind this only has to do with the particular cases I have and measured, since such numbers can vary from lot to lot where there could be greater or lesser differences. But, I think the difference in web thickness isn't going to show much change.

In terms of performance, I feel they can perform just as well as Lapua, but it might take a little more effort in brass prep. I say that because on inspecting these 10 cases, 3 of them has very visible burrs on and in the flash holes. And when I deburred the whole lot (with a 21st Century flash hole deburring tool), I often got quite a bit of shavings. If there's more variation in the neck thickness than I found in the ten, that could be an issue too. That the Starline and Lapua primers pocket depths were the same is good. . . in terms of comparison.

Substantial peening and burrs on virgin brass requires some attention before first firing.

I replaced Lapua with Starline on my ar 10 in 6 creed srp and it shot identical at 100 same load data.
Got tired of ar beating the crap out of good Lapua brass
