Hart barrel chambered in 6BR more pictures

I was on the Next Target at SW National last year with Father and Son.
They are working very hard to turn out Great Barrels.
Shot many of them over the years. 30cal .308 Match rifle Barrels back some years.
Worked very well.

I dropped my Hart barrel and action off at the gunsmith today.

It will be a .270 ND and he will be using a 60 thousands free bore reamer, which should work really well with the light bullets I want to shoot.
0.060" is a lot. The light bullets won't be very far in the neck at touch. I got 0.030" which is OK for 14 TW 58-68 Gr bullets, but I probably should have got 0.000 or 0.010". Who recommended 0.060"? The 6mm. 6o gr. Sierra Varminter is by far the most accurate bullet I ever shot. Get a 6BRX not a 6BR.

No one recommended a .060 free bore, it is what my gunsmith had and the seating depth worked out perfectly with the 58gr. V-Max.

The 60gr. Sierra Varminter did not shoot as well as the 58gr. V-Max in MY gun.

Why would I get a 6BRX when I JUST had a new 6BR chambered?????

Sako AII, Hart barrel 23-1/2", now braked since that picure was taken. Chamber 6BR 14tw, .271nk 0 fb. Likes 2230 powder and 55/58/65gr bullets. These things are amazingly accurate.
I have a Sako A11 22/250 and the barrel is getting long in the tooth. I will get it rebarreled this winter and will be doing just as you except I may go with a 12 or 13 twist I had my reamer made by Manson and it has 0 FB as well. In my last 6BR if I would have had .060 FB I wouldn't have been able to get to the lands with the 64 Stinger or the Berger. At least not enough bullet left in the case to make things work let alone chasing the lands . JME

I've shot mostly Douglas and Hart over the years both short
and long. Jumped ship to Krieger and it was an outstanding
barrel. Jumped ship again to Bartlein then Brux. All outstanding
barrels......But I have a Hart in the vault waiting on an action and
shooting a Douglas at this coming Pa. Tack Driver lite.....Ahhhhhh
having Ethan Lam do a Lilja barrel for my SA284 cat. Something
about those button barrels......!!

I put all the required information into my Strelok program and then went today to one of the farms I groundhog hunt on to shoot some distances and clicks for verification.

It was a little windy from right to left, but the clicks the Strelok said to put in for the two random distances I shot, 246yds. and 350yds. were spot on for elevation.

The farmer had recently planted soybeans that were only about 2 to 3 inches high, so I decided to try to get a shot at a groundhog.

I was there for a while when I spotted one at a lasered 230yds. I put the clicks the Strelok said and heard that familiar plop when I took the shot.

So far, I am very impressed with this Hart barrel and have nothing but good things to say about it.

Here are a few pictures from today.

Sorry if I missed it, but what stock is in that picture? How do you like it and was it bedded from the factory?

Quite nice looking rifle by the way. Good job on the shooting too. WD

Glad you are having such good luck with your Hart, that is a sweet rig!
My 6mmAI wore a Hart barrel and was an awesome shooter too.Your gunsmith sure did right by you, quick turnaround and very accurate to boot.Poor ground hogs ;)

It is a McMillan A3, and the color is 50% black, 25% gray and 25% gray marble.

I really like the looks and feel of it and I'm a big fan of the vertical grip stock that it has.

A good friend of mine did the bedding for me.

Thanks

I had a 6mm AI in the late 90's that also had a Hart barrel. It loved the 70gr. Bal. tips and I loved shooting it, so it didn't last long either.

I went back to the same soybean field I was at earlier. I saw three but only got a shot at this one.
He was 201yds. and was quartering towards me when I took the shot.

He chose soybeans as his last meal and still had some soybean leaves in his mouth that can be seen in the pictures.

I honestly believe I have a real winner in this Hart barrel, and so much so, I recently called Hart and let them know how thoroughly pleased I am with it. The lady I spoke with was very pleasant and thanked me for the positive feedback.

Here are a couple pictures from this afternoons hunt.

I have a 10t hart ready to spin up for this rifle. I call it my zombie dasher. My goal is to shoot 70gr TNT's and 87gr vmax's. the existing barrel shoot's 105 ok but, not the lighter bullets.
