Hart barrel chambered in 6BR more pictures

I decided to try a different barrel and ordered a Hart 12 twist heavy varmint. I am going to have it chambered in 6BR. It will be my groundhog and crow gun.

Most of my barrels in the past have been either Kreiger or Lilja, although in the 90's I did have a few Hart barrels that shot really well and I liked them a lot.

I have not heard many comments about Hart barrels recently and was wondering if anyone was using them and what opinions you had on them.

Thanks

If you want to get lots of accurate rounds out of it keep it clean. Everyone worries about copper. Copper is easy, carbon is your enemy. A million threads on here on vleaning. Figure out what works for you, use common sense. Time is your friend not hurry up quick.

One of the best shooting 6br barrels I've ever owned was a Hart 12tw. It shot 68gr and 80gr bullets quite well. JME. WD

Edit: A shooter that competes in short range BR at one of the clubs I compete at got Shooter of the Year using a 12tw Hart a couple years ago come to think of it. WD

I have several Harts. One dates back to Fred Sinclair and was basically new when I got it. Others are about ten yers old now, except a 20 cal 10 twist I bought two years ago. All of them shoot to my satisfaction...which means they shoot better than I am able to shoot them.

One of the threads linked was from a question I asked about Hart barrels. (Building a 30br) I'm waiting on my blank (3 months) while I was waiting, I found a krieger in the contour and twist, so I bought that too. I read every thread possible on hart. They are still winning barrels. Let us know how it shoots!

The most accurate rifle I have ever owned was a .22 Waldog with a Hart barrel. Shot many groups in the .130 range. This amazing barrel would shoot almost any reasonable load in the 1's. My next barrel will be a Hart. And they stand behind their product. What's not to like.

I’ve shot, Kreiger, Brux, Shilen, Lilja and Hart. They all shot well, but right now, I’ve got 3 Hart’s on my rifles. They are quality barrels, my .224 barrels have given me excellent barrel life. A 6mm is on order for a Dasher.
Thanks for the reply. Another positive vote for Hart......I like it!!!!!

I have an 8 twist Hart heavy varmint contour on my .223. I have over 3000 rounds on it. Still shoots good. I shoot Berger 80.5 gr full bores mostly. Some 75 gr Berger vlds too.

Harts have always been one of the best. I have several Hart's, 22, 6, and 257, they all are very accurate. The 6BR is 14tw and shoots really well, 55-58-65gr bullets are all I've ever used. The 6BR on a Sako was done by Hart and the chamber was throated way long, lighter bullets seated extremely shallow into the case. Don't know why they'd use that chamber with a 14tw. I had it re-chambered with my 0 fb reamer and the thing is now just a champ. The builder even clocked the HART RIFLE BARRELS engraving perfectly. You won't go wrong with a Hart.

I went to the 100yd. range today to try out my new Hart barreled 6BR.

It showed a definite preference for 58gr. V-Max and 58gr. Z-Max bullets and Accurate LT-32 powder with CCI BR-4 primers.

I will be doing more testing with these loads and also try some CCI 450 primers.

I know it's early but so far I am very pleased with the Hart barrel.

Well I think I found a good load for my new Hart barreled 6br.

I shot these two targets today, both were the same loads, and both were 3 shots. The one on the left was this morning and the one on the right was this afternoon. There was a little more wind in the afternoon than this morning. Old mister groundhog just might be in trouble, especially if I catch him out in the morning! LOL

I am feeling good about the Hart barrel and believe I made a good choice.

This is also the first time I have tried Peterson brass and so far I am really impressed with it and its consistency.

Very nice! Only problem you have now is no excuse for a miss! Happy hunting.
