Harrells Tuner Brake

Hey guys I just got in a new Harrells tuner brake that I'll be putting on my Dasher. Since I've never used one where do I start with the initial setting? Currently I put it dead center of the adjustment. Next how much do I turn it at a time to see any sort of difference one way or another?

Any other hints on using it will be greatly appreciated.

Ther is a hopewell method another method. I read them on http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/index.php

Try it all the way out and then work back in numerical order. My 6Dasher barrels are mostly HV 28". The 1st barrel tune is the most work. If you change loads or barrels, you will get the opportunity to start over. It is a slam dunk going forward if you keep your load consistent and all your barrel contours & lengths are the same. Once tuned, make very slight changes for conditions.

I use the Harrells as well as the RAS tuners and tuner/break combos on my Dasher barrels. Both are nice tuners. Both of the tuning rings weight about 2 1/8 oz. The RAS is a single piece and the Harrell is split but the weights are very close. The big difference is in the graduations in the tuning cycle. The RAS graduations are 7X finer than the Harrell tuner marks. I can completely miss a node in 4 marks on the RAS let alone 7. I would recommend using the RAS tuning decal that has the fine graduations with either tuner. It is a stick on tape that goes on the barrel. Use any of the Harrell marks with it but only one. The two tuners are a little different in performance but that is only my observation.

Anytime.

How's the HBN coating going for ya? You only need to tumble bullets about an hr or less to get them coated.

GREAT so far, been running New Norma dasher brass with 35gr 8208, Berger 88gr. @ 3315 w/ 1 SD, & 2 ES 5 shots... Got nothing to compliane about so far.:D

I got the Tuner brake combo. My barrels threaded for a brake 3/4-32 so I got one to fit that

I'm using the Harrells currently..
You can miss nodes, but they'll come back as long as you watch the signs. My rifle would go from horizontal to vertical, then once the vertical groups were getting small i knew I was close to a node. I made bold adjustments until that point, then i would move 2 numbers either direction until i figured out of I going in the right or wrong direction. Your rifle might present like mine but it's still working of the harmonic priciples and should get something very close. I also stated all the way back.

The RAS tuners are the "standard" for precise shooting tuners. I currently own three but have had two more I sold. All are the real answer to tuning a rifle for precision.

Tiny movements are the secret. For more information, go to that... Bostromgunsmithing.com site.
