Harrells Culver premium STATIC

I have just gone insane trying to get a Harrells premiun Culver measure to throw 2 charges the same, is there a trick to this .
It appears to be a ton of static in the thing and I tried grounding it, the bottle acts like a static sponge
Any help appreciated
Bill

Static drove me crazy when I first got my Harrell's BR Premium. If you have some dryer anti-static sheets, rub some on the powder bottle and on the tube. After a while, the static gets settled down as the inside surfaces get coated with some graphite,or whatever comes off the powder).

Even my Redding BR measure had problems with static when I first got it.

Here in the Northeast, where the cold/dry season is coming, plastic items are always a problem with static.

Throw 100 to 200 charges with your Harrell's focusing on doing it exactly the same every time. I find it works best to "bang" the measure as little as possible. I get my most consistent throws when I go up slowly, pause at the top just momentarily, and come down slowly but forcefully enough to cut any powder kernels without the lever stopping, and then stop the lever and slowly trickle into the case. There is no substitute for practice and no accuracy without being consistent in what you do.

Good news is, it will all settle down and become second nature and you will love the Harrell's.

I had a similar problem with my Harrell's when I would throw charges into the measuring pan of my RCBS scale. When I held a shell under the tube and throw directly into it, the problem went away. I was acutally considering using some dryer sheets as well until I found the solution to my problem. I, too, have found that minimal disturbance at the top of the stroke to give me +/-0.1gr precision consistently. I love that thing now. Just took some practice.
HTH,

p.s. I have had mine for only 2 months or so.

Here's a trick from before the days of fabric dryer sheets.

Mix a mild solution of Ivory dish soap and water. Dunk the plastic hopper in the solution, remove, and let it air dry. The residual film left stops static cold.

This method requires occasional re-application, but it makes it easy to "de-static" the corners and crevices that are hard to reach with a dryer sheet.
