Hard click at top of bolt lift

THERE was a problem with THEIR set-up. Now it appears THEY'RE are now GTG......despite some of the discombobulated advice offered.

As I tried to plainly state, my 'click' problem stemmed directly from not using a FL die, but rather a generic bushing neck die to re-size brass for that rifle.
The phenomenon was explained in several 'liked' posts above. I merely adding a specific instance in agreement, having experienced it, firsthand...

Point being, if your sizer die is not keeping case body dimensions 'in check', subsequent firings of that brass might develop a 'clicky' bolt lift situation during extraction.

OR, the shoulder/case body juncture has been upset by seating and crimping; the shoulder juncture upsets when the crimp is placed on the case while the bullet is being seated. I have made bellows/accordion looking cases because I moved the shoulder back on a case without case body support. That was the only time I was able to move a shoulder on a case. I shortened the distance from the shoulder of the case to the case head, for most that is not useful, the case had what could be described as a big not in the case between the shoulder and case head; meaning it would not chamber. But; I did manage to move the shoulder back.

We are on the "Accurate Shooter" channel......no one in their right mind uses a crimp on a bullet and expects competitive accuracy.

I am sure you do and I am convinsed you can but I do not know what your measuring. I am the only one that has tension gages; problem, my tension gages do not measure tension, all of my tension gages measure in pounds and then there are my deflection gages, they measure in thousandths and are caliberated in pounds.

I guess in 60 years of reloading i never crimped a rifle round including an AR. Not to many shoulders on a 45 or a 44 or even a 38………. but they get a crimp when needed in a wheel gun………. jim

You better crimp all bullets when loading for double guns guns. Larry

Jim -
I tested crimping a couple times years back and again when I did all that pressure trace testing. Which for the most part, unless the brass was fresh/new, couldn't get consistent exit times. Annealing helped, but still lacked to what I could produce from prepped necks.

You better crimp all bullets when loading for double guns guns. Larry

Larry, only double guns i ever loaded for were drillings, some had 3 barrels and some had 2. None were crimped, even a 458……. jim

Every big bore seating dies have a crimp ability. That is for safety reason. Larry
