Hall action .222 Salem VA

This is not a for sale post, just a heads up for anyone in the Roanoke-Salem VA area that may have an interest in what I saw for sale at Trader Jerry's in Salem.

Stopped by this store looking for 1 Lb. of IMR 4227, they had one 8 pounder which I passed on. While browsing, I saw a Hall actioned .222 with a spare barrel that had been set back and re-crowned according to the tag on it. Looks like a Lee 6 stock painted black, unknown scope. It was sitting on a wooden box that appeared to have been made to transport it. Asking price is $1300.

All I could find out about it was that it was on consignment. I cannot answer any questions about this rifle best look up Trader Jerry's in the Roanoke-Salem phone book or do an internet search for them if you want more info.

Am in no way shilling for the business, go in there 2 or 3 times a year when in that area visiting the daughter and her family. My expendable play money is committed to getting my 750 Norton on the road while I am rebuilding the 850 so I am passing the info on.

I think it is a possible good deal if someone wanted to contact the store owner for more info and do further due diligence. The counter guy thought that there may be some room in the pricing for negotiation.

The rifle is not a safe queen but it deserves a chance to be in the hands of someone who will appreciate it.

I wish I still had my Norton.
Have two Commandos and one Atlas project.
Am the second owner on the Commandos, one 750 Combat and one 850 E-Start. Wiped out an exhaust lobe on the way to the National Norton Rally last summer on the 850. Most of the 850 soft cams went bad within 10,000 miles. Had over 20 on mine and ,being the eternal optimist, I rationalized that my bike had one of the few properly heat treated cams. Simple repair just getting around to doing it seems to be the hard part.

Ridden sanely within their design limits they will provide good service have ridden one or the other to Canada, Georgia, Missouri, Ohio and Tennessee with no problems until last summer.

Thanks for this post. We need for more like it for our members. Bought a couple
of very nice guns from posts like this.

Mark,

I know what you mean, looked high and low for something like this that I could lay my hands on and do a face to face transaction when I built the 6.5x47 that I bring to the Roanoke egg shoot.

Hope it finds a good home.
