H335 vs Win 748

Looking for experience between these powders in 223 rem with 55gr bullets. Looking for results in high temps and cold temps. Are they really that temperature sensitive? Should i use magnum primers? Thanks.

They are both temperature sensitive. I believe 748 is more sensitive than 335 and both powders produce greater pressure as ambient temp increases. Of the two, I prefer H335 for bullet weights between 50 and 60 grains. It has yielded more consistent results in my experience. YMMV . . .

I've always used magnum primers with ball powders in colder weather. It may not be necessary for smaller cases like the .223 but I use them anyway.

H335 is one of my favorite powders for the 223 in that bullet weight range. Around 22.2 grains works in all my guns as a "just load and go shoot" fun round. I bought a bunch of 748 but I haven't used any yet. I usually only shoot at temps above 50 degrees.

748 is cleaner than h335

Both will work at low temps and high temps. If you are trying to push the ragged edge of pressure hot and cold weather loads will need to be made.

Win 748 thrives in warmer weather, does not do below freezing well. That said, both powders from the dark ages, look at AR comp, CFE 223, 2 Accurate powders also, many more.

I’ve used both powders in .223 with 50 and 55 grain bullets and found accurate loads easier with W-748. Neither one were shot at temperature extremes so I can’t comment on sensitivity.
