Some but no info on what I'm doing.I see Hodgdon's load data site suggests 223 Rem: 20gr max of H4198 with a 60 grain bullet for a speed of about 3000fps.
Have you looked at their data?

Thanks. Did you notice a velocity increase with the h4198 over the h322 giving same powder charge to case capacity?Deaddick, years ago I shot H4198 and H322 in a 6PPC. H4198 was all over the map, one day great, one day not so great. I went to H322 and never looked back.
I think that a good option would be LT30, then AA2200. Bullet weight is going to be an issue with powder choice.
Good luck!
Not good. Was this old H4198 or the newer 'Extreme' version?Velocity was about the same with H4198 and 322 and the 4198 had some pressure spikes also.
PS(edited): If you look at the Hodgdon reloading site, you will see that 222 and 223 maximum loads with a 53 grain bullet and H322 and H4198 yield very comparable velocities. For a 222 and a 53 grain bullet, the Hodgdon data indicates one could gain about 200 fps versus H322 by switching to the ball powder CFE 223. With lighter 40 grain bullets in a 222, Hodgdon data indicates that H4198 will yield approx 160 fps more than H322.
Dont you have any reloading manuals? I use several different reloading manuals to get the information I'm looking for. I have Hodgden's reloading manual, Harnady manuals, Sierra manuals, Nosler manuals and so on as well as the reloading data on the internet. All this wealth of information will reveal your answer. These manuals have loads with several different powders as well as different bullets and other components. Do some research and you'll find your answer!Have searched the internets but with no relevant results.
I've been using some H322 with great results but need a bit more speed. I'm right at shoulder neck juncture with it but just not getting the speed I'm looking for; close, very close. I can't get enough in case to get what I'm wanting before running out of capacity.
H4198 is just a bit faster per burn rate charts. Will H4198 Extreme give me just that bit more speed needed versus H322 per case capacity or are they too close to make a difference? Or should I take the next leap and go for a significantly faster powder?
