H322 or RL-15

I am wanting to try some 80 gr. berger varmint bullets in my 6br and locally I can get H322 and RL-15. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with either of these powders with 80 gr. bullets. I cant find much info with these powders and 80 gr. bullets. I have Remington 7 1/2 and federal 205 primers.

thanks

whiter02,

I shoot N135 with 80 gr bullets in my 6BR's. I use RL15 with heavy bullets. At these times powders are hard to come by. checking out http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp.

go for the RL15 try 33.3 or less gr. and work up, try jamming the 80 grs with less than 33.3 gr and work up.
Berger New manual shows 33.3 gr max....2.4410OAL

Those 80 Grain Bergers shoot like Sh-t and you should sell me all you have ;D ;D ;D. No just kidding. I shoot 30.4 Varget out of my one 6Br and works like a dream with cci 450 and Lapua brass. Cant speak for any other powder i never had to experiment any further.

Thanks for the info. I can't find any other powder any where so that's why i was seeing if anyone out there had any loads or have tried these powders. I am using rl-15 with the 107's but i want to try the 80's and didn't know which of the two powders mentioned would more likely work the best.

New Guy here, so take everything I say with at least one grain of salt!!

I finally got my 6BR to shoot when I switched from 87 Vmaxes to the 80 Bergers. It will shoot sub 1/2 MOA with 322, BLC-(2), and 8208 XBR with the 80s. It was barely on the paper with the V-maxes!! So, what has worked for me are the approximate loads (I use a Harrell's Premium and use "clicks") - remember to start a bit lower just in case:

8208 XBR about 27 grains
H322 about 26 grains
BLC-(2) about 28 grains

Seating was from 15 thou into the lands to 15 thou out. All seemed to work, but this was my first day of hitting where I was aiming!! :o

RL 15 is pretty close in burn rate to Varget, I would start at 30 grains and work up, might shoot best at around 30 grains though. Good luck. H322 is faster and works well with the 60-70 grain bullets better.
