6BR - RL - 15 Load Data

Anybody got any pet loads with heavy bullets,90 - 108 gr.) and RL-15 that you would share? Thanks, Bill

somewhere between 30-31.5 you will find happiness :)

I run 31gns +- a couple tenths depending on the temperature.

Gives about 2925 with a 105 Berger VLD

Hey Bill,

I had good luck with 30.4 grains behind my Berger 105 VLD's at almost 2900 FPS. But that load was too hot in the summer heat.

Thanks, Jimmy. Yea, as warm as it still is I think I may need to follow Expiper's advice and start around 29.5 gr. How is your 6BR AR shooting?

The Lilja 3-groove 1-8" tw barrel on my 40X worked pretty well with a 107gr SMK 20 thou off the lands, CCI450 primers, and 30.1gr RE-15. I did my load development up to this point and then had to stop... the old sloppy firing pin hole on the 40X was letting the primers crater too much, even with mild starter loads). I sent the bolt off to Gre-Tan to get the hole bushed, which stopped the cratering completely... but I never got around to continuing my load work up. This load shot very well, was fairly mild, and everything just 'worked'. Not everybody wants or needs a load on the ragged edge.

Hi Bill,
I haven't been shooting much lately, with all the storms and traveling. Right after Gustav we left Louisiana and will not go home until first week in OCT. We are in Michigan and will be going to Mn. to see Mike at Dtech. I had a hugh pine tree fall with in 10 feet of my house, so when I get home I will have a mess to clean up. I was very lucky and I feel bad for the people in west La. and Texas. Gustav also damaged our rifle range, so that will need fixing to.

Hey Jimmy, Sorry to hear about the storm damage. We had a brief moment with Hanna here in SE NC about a week ago. Nothing major. Just shingles, screen, limbs. etc. I certainly feel for those people all around the Gulf area. Seems like just about the time they climb out from under one another one will come along. But, we just have to take the weather as it comes. The Man upstairs is controling all that. I was able to shoot my 6BR this afternoon for the second time. It did really well with RL-15, N540, and the new IMR-4007ssc, but I think RL-15 kind of beat the other two out by a small margin. Next time around I will see what seating depth it likes the best. All were at .020 jam after kissing lands today. I hope you get back to shooting before too long. Bill
