H1000 in 243 Win

I originally planned to use 243WIN for F-Class and did so for 3 barrels. It's a great cartridge, but I'm getting the same velocity (2950ish) with a 6BRX that uses 6 grains less powder. If you are already concerned about barrel life, then there are better choices than 243WIN: 6.5x47, 6XC, 6BRX, 6BR. For F-class, the 6BR rules the roost out to 600 yards and will give you 1000-1500 more rounds from your barrel.

I, too, have been using 46 gr of H1000 behind 107 SMK's and 0.040jump. This is a good node for my barrel and I have shot 600 yd and 1000 yd competition with it.

I recently tried RL-17 as I have a bunch of guns using it, but I think I will go back to H1000 as Quickload shows much lower heat generation with H1000 and it is more efficient than RL-17.

Just saw your post after asking the question about 107 SMK and how far they like to jump to the lands. Going to assume you started in the lands and worked your way out?

Between my wife and I, we have shot out four 243 barrels.

Using Bartline 28" 7.5 twists, shooting 115 DTAC's (old ones) and 47.8 grains of H1000. We were getting a MV of 3050 and they lasted an average of 1200 rounds before throwing flyers shooting tactical competitions, but some stages would require 20 round strings. :(

The barrels would not get as warm as our current 6.5x47's using 37.5 grains of Varget, so it does seem to burn cooler, just my experience.

The barrel that I pulled at 2800rds was not fire cracked and I needed a fill in while I was waiting on another barrel so I had my smith set it back again and shot it for another 1000rds. I would say that is a pretty good case for H1000...

I CAN SAY MY 243 ACKLEY SURE LIKES TO BE FUELED WITH H-1000 AND 105GR VLD'S AND 210M PRIMERS FOR SPARK PLUGS !!:D:D

I've got over 2400 rounds down my first 6CM and at 600 and 800 yards it still shoots under 1/2 MOA. 115 DTAC and H1000 is all I shoot. I've seen .243's shoot H1000 real well out to 1000 yards.
I know this is an old thread
But
do you remember your load

I had my tikka 6CM using 48.5 H1000
pushin 115 dtacs BN coated
very hot
very flat primers
thank you for responding
I use Winchester brass and Tula LRMP'S. Plus my throat was the mid reamer and my newest barrel I extended out a little. My oal is 2.910" with a 0.010 jump. Naked 115 DTAC's.
