Gunsmithing screwdriver set

I have several Brownells Magna Sets, and lots of individual pieces, especially in the smaller sizes. Many times I would use brass shim stock of varying thicknesses to make up the difference in a slightly loose fitting bit. This saved a lot of time fitting bits precisely to screws. A tight fitting cleaning patch also works well in some cases. Foreign shotguns with the super thin screw slots were a real pain.

Years ago I had a deal with a local gun shop. I snow plowed their parking lot each winter. Payment came in the form of a store credit. It was really nice to be able to buy rifles and such without having to run it by my wife since no cash was involved!

Other than maybe the rifles and shotguns, one of the most useful items I ended up with was a Brownells Magna-Tip master set. That was probably 12 years ago, I still use it all the time and every bit looks like new.

Now that I think about it, I’m not sure I ever told my wife that the store credit was my idea. Oh well!

Dave.

Brownell's has a variety of different sizes so make sure you get what you need. I believe I have about five sets myself.

Looking on Brownells website I see magna tip drivers with L E tips and just tips, handles are clip, hollow, and magnetic. What is the better choice.

I like the magnetic. Bought my first set with a clip, but never liked that handle - takes a little force to change tips. Replaced it with magnetic and now happy.
