Gunsmith search???

I bought a rifle today at the Wannamacher and on the barrel its stamped W.E. Webb.222r,.246 ND. I'm pretty sure its a tight neck 222 but curious if anyone is familiar with the gunsmith. Thanks!!

Probably Bill Webb. He was a master gunsmith, and also designed his own barrel rifling machine on which he made his own barrels.

If it is the rimmed version, Bertram produces the brass. Pretty pricey stuff at $1.80 per piece.

The dealer I bought the rifle from is from Missouri, so is Bill Webb. Hmmmmm!! W.E., think the W might be for William? If so, wonder about the quality of the barrel? His machine looked like it cut rifling.

Bill Webb was also a very successful benchrest shooter.

Is there any info on the quality of his barrels. Accuracy reviews? Starving for more info on what I have. Thanks to all!!

Bill

The best review of it would be from you after to shoot it and work up loads . I'd have it bore scoped and checked .

The only person I knew with a scope was about 2hours away and he passed away a year or so ago, so I guess that only leaves the other option of load and shoot.
