+1. They did the metal work for me on a Remington 40X solid bottom with a Krieger 1:9" twist .300 WSM.

Bob Green does my metal work but I use jewel-like Warner sizing dies. Either Green or Warner are excellent choices. But what I'd really like to know: Why did you choose a 9" twist for your .300 WSM?

Way back in the mid 80s, when I shot for the Army, we shot .300 Win Mag at long range. 240 gr Sierra bullets through 1:9" twist Hart bbls. Accuracy was great, so I stuck with the same twist when I built my civilian .300 Win Mag and when I re-barreled to .300 WSM. But instead of the 240s, I've been running 210 Berger VLDs and 210 and 220 gr Sierras (all soft-seated). Accuracy has been great, so I stuck with it.

I shoot a .300 WSM in F-Open with 10" twist. Accuracy with Berger 230 Hybrids, which require more RPM to stabilize than Sierra 240 MK's, is also excellent. I shot a .300 Win Mag prone in the eighties. It was a Model 70 with 10" twist Atkinson barrel. I did try the 240's once. But, while accuracy was fine, the effect on my shoulder was not. Even the 220's were a bit tough in a 14 lb. rifle. I ended up with the 190's. Back in those days, two t-shirts, a sweatshirt and a 10-X coat was not enough to keep that Model 70 from beating me black and blue. ;)

I hear ya, Steve. I actually lean towards the 210 gr bullets now as there seems to be a noticeable difference in recoil between the 220 and the 210 grainers. I was young and bullet-proof when I was shooting the 240s!
