I bought a little Kel-Tek .380 when they first came out. I shot 1 magazine full and sold it. The first time I squeezed the trigger I thought it was broke. I didn’t think the trigger-pull would ever end. Later, I bought a Taurus Millenium in .40 S&W. I took it to the range and at 7 yards I had to aim about 3 feet to the left and 2 1/2 feet high to hit close to center mass. I could have sent it back for repair, since they have a lifetime warranty, but I would never trust it. So out it went.

I had the same rifle with the same problem. It was returned to Henry. Received it back 9 days later with a new barrel.it now shoots sub MOA. Henry has top notch warranty and customer service. I couldn’t be happier. It’s now my favorite plinker.

When my wife and I started dating, I bought her a Stoeger 20 gauge over/under. It felt like you were breaking a 2x4 in half when you opened it. The fit and finish was just horrible. Needless to say, sometimes you get exactly what you pay for.
I've become much more particular over the years and only purchase quality guns, or I just do without. I've learned my lesson.

Grendel 380...had a trigger spring that reminded me of the wound springs in the 1960's toy "spark" guns. It broke. No replacements. Gun a total loss because of one spring.
Ruger Red Label 28 ga O/U. Beautiful to look at. Patterned about two feet left...or EVERYTHING i shot at.

I had to work on an Erma 22 luger copy once and almost had a nervous breakdown. They're the pits to work on. I'm not sure where Stoger imports come from but don't ever buy anything Boito. had to work on an o/V of theirs and almost laughed when I looked at the lock mechanism. It was childish. It belonged to a nephew and I told him to either bury it or give it to his worst enemy. Surprising about the Ruger 28 ga. o/U though. Ruger usually gives pretty good service. The early O/U's did have some trigger problems but they got that fixed. I think they quit because they were more expensive to produce than what they could sell for. It's a shame.

I recall 2. First was a T/C Contender in 44 mag I bought new in the early 80's. It was a miserable gun to shoot, the recoil was so punishing and I had to send it back to T/C 3 or 4 times for "lock-up" problems. I later purchased a 30 Herrett barrel for it, which I could never make shoot. I later traded that gun and 3 barrels for a 1937 Win M52 w/ 20X Unertl - that was a good trade!
The other was a new Ruger No. 1B in 30-06 which I purchased in the late 80's. It was a beautiful rifle, the wood was gorgeous, but it would not hold a zero, period. It would shot 1" groups at a 100 yds., but when you took it out next, the POI would 4"-6" off. At the time I read everything I could about making No.1's shoot and I tried it all. Ultimately, I talked to a guy who'd had a lot of them and he told me "if you get one that won't shoot, get rid of it and save yourself a lot of work, because it never will". I took his advise. I have since had 2 more No. 1's the shot great.

I've had 2 both Remington's.
First was a model 700BDL 7 rem mag first time out loaded it and pulled trigger- nothing, reset bolt pulled trigger click nothing this with Remington core lock ammo. Sent it back got it back 3 weeks later and the slip said nothing wrong, but now it fired. Now it would shoot but could not get it under 2.5 inches at 100 yds, Remington said it was well with in spec- GONE.
Second Rem 700 ML could not find bullet strikes at 50 yards. Went back, 2 weeks later a brand new one showed up, and it will put 3 touching at 100, still have it. When I called and spoke to someone in the repair shop he said he could not understand how the first one ever left the factory, didn't tell me what was wrong, just that it never should have shipped.
Just thought of a third, Springfield 45 auto could not shoot 3 in succession, stove pipe every time no matter what ammo used. Brought it back and traded for a Colt Officers model.

Anyone remember the Colt 2000.. it shot great but you had to fight through a long painful trigger pull. Even Superman would say the trigger pull was difficult.

I’m really glad I ran into this post and subsequently the write up you did on your site, lol. I was quite seriously considering grabbing one for the purpose of turning it into a high capacity driller with minimal post purchase expenditure. Your blog write on the Mossberg is basically a bad rerun of what me and mine go through everytime a stock factory rifle follows one of us home. Your site has been bookmarked at my house, it’s excellent.

After owning several Anschutz rifles, I had one in 17 HMR that I just couldn't bring myself to use as a truck gun. So I bought a CZ-455 in 17 HMR to use on my annual prairie dog hunt for the closer shots. First time I took it to the range, this is the target (100m).
I couldn't even tell which target the shots were on. Well that isn't going to work on head shots for prairie dogs. So I ordered a new Lilja barrel, slid out the CZ and slid in the Lilja. First 5 shots on target at 100m with the Lilja barrel:
Then I replaced the trigger in the CZ with a Timney, bought 2 different stocks for it. Wound up with more in it than I paid for my Anschutz 17 HMR.
