Gunholics anonymous

Hi my name is Wayne and I have been a addict of some sort my whole life,no matter what I am into I am into it all the way, I live, eat, breath, and sleep whatever I am into at the time. Like Mike I quit drinking 12 years ago and 6 months later I gave up a 20 year addiction with chewing tobacco, I had to have something to occupy my time. I have always been into guns so I decided to build a short range .222 rem and Like Frank said the obsession with groups began. I have wore out a pickup load of barrels looking for that single hole ;)
I am a gunaholic and considering the alternatives I am going to stay a gunaholic. My wife came down to my loading room a few days ago with a piece of yellow notebook paper in her hand, she had just finished up our taxes, the # on the paper was $29,617.89 I said what that for she said thats how much you spent on guns and gun related stuff last year and I am heading to town and I am buying the best washer and dryer money can buy, what do you think about that she said,....What could I say to that, she is one hell of a women and she has a really nice stainless washer/dryer set ::)
Wayne.

Congrats on the 12 years Wayne and congrats on kicking the chewing habit also! I just threw down the cigarettes and chewing tobacco a week ago so I'm still wet behind the ears on that account. Thank God for Nicorette ;)! I'm just like you, no matter what I'm doing, its 110%. When I first quit drinking it was atv's and dirtbikes. Then it was snowmobiles and now it is guns. Can't lie though, I've always had an obsession with guns but this precision shooting has taken it to a whole new level! I wish I could afford to spend that kind of money on shooting every year ;)! Yes, you're wife is one hell of a woman with out a doubt.

Mike

Yes I am a self prescribed gun-a-holic, and i know I am in too deep when I scour the Marketplace here 4 times a day, and the Brown truck drops off stuff at my house about 1-2 times a week from all the various shooting supply houses like Bruno's, Midway, Sinclair, Gunstop, Natchez, Grafs, Cabelas, Powder Valley, Russ Haydon, et-al on and on! I need serious help! ;D

Bozo69,
Leather furnature works great too. And a bedroom set worked good also. Yes, keep them away from calculators. And take the price tags off the front of your bullet boxes when you stack them all up. My wife came in the reloading room a few years ago and looked at all the bullets, then I saw her focus on the price tags that were on them. I could see the gears turning in her head but all se said was,"huh", smiled and walked out. I'm sure that cost me somewhere I don't even know about.

As for as the meeting hall goes; we'll probably need a bunch of those Hoppes air freshners. I bought one for the truck the other day. They are shaped like a little Hoppes #9 solvent bottle and that's just what they smell like. I thought they were pretty cool.

All kiddin aside; I do respect the "12" step programs alot. I am good friends with several people that are very active in AA and they take it very serious. We joke about it about it a bunch so I suppose that made me comfortable enough to start this tread. They thought it was fun too.

Well, I gotta hit the road. driving to Pierre, SD for first 600yd match tommorrow. You all take care. And smell a pound of powder for me while I'm gone. ;D

Randfal,
Thanks for the neat thread, we need something like this to take our minds off the seriousness of it all every once in a while. Good luck at the shoot and drive careful. I am heading down to my loading room and I will smell some Varget for you, hope it helps ;)
Wayne.

Randfal: Thanks from me also for the neat thread. You need to let me know where you got those Hoppes #9 air fresheners, I could use a couple of those. Good luck at the match and have a safe trip. I may have to go to my loading bench and smell some powder for you too ;)! Since Wayne is doing the Varget, I may have to smell some H414 or H380 for you.

Mike

I have asked my shooting friend and therapist to the stars in my town for help. He said lets go shooting some of your new stuff and talk about it. Damn I have bought three actions,a bear aluminum stock, three scopes, 24 AR500 targets, a barrel and some reloading stuff on hear just in the last few weeks. My ffl said bring your truck my office is full. Help me people stop selling me these deals. Refuse my money JUST SAY NO to me. PG

Hi my name is Jeff....if you're not gonna drink that...I mean, shoot that, I'll take it!

Hi, my name is Robert and I am not Gunholic. NOT!

Just what is the exact count that pushes you over the top? I have the extra room at home that is dedicated to nothing but reloading and all, but I need to know what firearm count I should be striving to attain. :D

My name is ollie, and and sorry this is hard, im a gunaholic. I always say im going to build a new gun and sell one of my old ones but I just can't bring myself to sell one of my babys

All I can say is WHY do you do this to me......I am now looking for a Nightforce and I did not even get to shoot at the last match........I think we should have stayed with just P-Dogs.....Not 600 and 1000 yard matches. It is just like High School...It all your fault.

I all of you think you have it bad, You have been talking about mostly rifles. I am also addicted, but to shotgun sports, Skeet and 5-stand. You can never ever get a perfect shotgun and be satisfied. Someday compare the price of a good O/U versus a Rifle. This gets real expensive, fast!

All it takes is 1 to get started. ;D

Doug , you've been hooked for along time now. You just didn't know it. It takes getting it out in the open to really come to grips with your addiction. A Nightforce is a good first step in the right direction. Although that 10-50 Sightron you have would work to. One step at a time. Don't forget to weigh each brass and every bullet, Ha Ha.

I am a gunaholic as well and proud of it.For all the money I could waste in bars and luxury vacations , is replaced by my firearms love of mechanical things.I have been colleting since I was about 12 years old. Instead of stuff that goes down the drain,I have it all in metal and wood.I just love the mechanics of rifles and shotguns. My collection ranges from single shots and bolt guns to semi automatics to hand cannons. My ex wanted to colectic booze and I wanted tangible goods(guns). I also have a insane collection of traditional archery bows and collectibles.I love it.

As with most addictions, having family support is important in helping to over come gun addiction. Unfortunately I have absolutely no help at home as my wife is as big an addict as I am. Last month she also laid four more guns on me for my birthday. I know I will have the thoughts and prayers of my brother addicts as I struggle againest the heavy odds againest me.

wind holder,

Wayne.
