Gun value?

I was tring to come up with funds for 700 short action project and noticed that a Taurus 72 stainless just like mine is selling for $600+ on gunbroker or one of those type of sites. How can I tell what the value of my rifle is? Does anyone have a blue book? Was that just a case one three people wanting that gun for more than it is worth? It has been fired but in new condition.
Thanks Troy

What it's worth depends on its condition and what the market will bear at any given time. Most of the sales I've seen involving the Taurus 72SS run between $600 and $700. My favorite gun shop has a firearms blue book and is pretty good about sharing value information upon request. If you're well acquainted with a local shop (and do a lot of business there) yours may be equally obliging.

Is this the slide action 22mag? If so blue book #32 (2011) lists it at $295 at 100% add $34 for rear tang sight. Last msr was $327.
If you can find someone to give $600 for I would send it on it's merry way. ;D

Troy,
IMHO, there's no way that I'd settled for or even consider buying a "Taurus" action when you set the bar at starting out on a build with a Remington 700 action. In fact, I'd probably be looking for an Rem 40X or even an XP action if I were looking to build a Rimfire rifle. There's no comparison and I believe you would be compromising potential accuracy and the pleasure thereof. I've seen so many fine and accurate builds on a 700 action, that if I were going to do a build today, I'd wouldn't look for or accept anything of lesser quality. Just my thoughts and trying to save you future disappointment and regret. Good luck whichever way you go.

Troy,

From what I see for Auction results on GunBroker's Completed Autions they have sold from between $530 and $940.87 which is an average of $655.84...if it's not an heirloom, list it and turn it into a Rem. 700 SA.

Yep sold for $630 now add $40 I found a rem 700 22-250 flutted matte blue HS stock no palm swell, jeweled bolt($670)
I plan on picking that up this week
Hope to make a switch barrel gun
