gun stock

i have a savage model 10 predator rifle with the medium heavy
barrell, the stock that it came with has no bedding that i can tell i have looked in cabelas and bass pro magazines but cannot
seem to find 1 i like that is reasonably priced. so what would you folks suggest. i really like the look of the stocks that have a prominant pistol grip where the grip is near vertical. i would really like to stay as cheap as possible also since $$$ somehow eludes me. thanks

In case you didn't see it, check out the gun stock link in the left column on the home page here. You may be able to find something to suit your fancy. That is the same reason I have a saw mill. My lumber might be dry enough to start chewing me out a stock next spring.
I suspect your going to have to drop some coin to get what you want though. There are other places to find or have stocks made, like gun stocks 4 you.

Good luck, Jim

Yep.

jraney,

Take a look at the Bell and Carlson Medalist . Has the upright grip you're looking for $210.

Why not check out stockys.I got a tactical style(medalist) for 215.00. They have excellent pricing and fix problems if you order the wrong one like I did. Give them a try.

hey thanks for the replies. i suppose i could try to bed
it myself but it kinda scares me. i watched a youtube
video on how to do it and it just looked like alot of work
plus i have no where to do it at i guess that is the main reason. but thanks for the suggestion i guess i will keep lookin
for exactly what i want.

choate stocks are no where near the quality of B&C medalist. Heavy plastic versus fiberglass(short strand), crude texture versus a nice smooth with splatter finish, alum v-block (receiver area only) versus aluminum chassis that runs from the front swivel through the wrist into the butt section. Most people at snipershide and pricsion section at AR-15.com put the B&C equal to, or above a HS, and way above a choate anything. B&C medalist at twice the price of a choate is still a better deal. It is no Manners or McM and it's price point reflects that, but its availibility has made it a favorite of mine for savage builds. Is your predator rifle a newer one with the accu-stock or is it an older model?

well i bought it early this year but i do not think it has the accu-stock,just from looking at some pics there are some differences. but i was wondering i think it is a mcm duramax stock i saw it is not exactly what i want but it is better i think than what i have. it was on sale for 89$ but it said for the older centerfeed savage rifles will this fit my gun? any help would be great.

thanks j

Jraney, stagger feed is the old action/mag/stock, centerfeed is the new style. A 3 screw stock from a target action won't work, otherwise that wouldn't have been a bad deal. Measure from the front action screw to the middle one( in front of the trigger guard) If it is 4.25ish it is an older stagger feed. B&C makes stocks for both actions, check out stocky's for clarification. As far as the duramax stock, it is marginally better then the factory stock, it is only has pillars. The medalist A2 is the one with a full length bedding chassis, uit goes for about 210 for a black one and a little more for different colors.
