Gun Solvent

After shooting a few hundred rounds in my 45 Glock, I decided to try a cleaning concoction I mixed up a few weeks ago. I used a 50/50 mix of Kroil and Acetone and I have never seen carbon fouling disappear so fast!!. A few strokes of a brush removed it inside and out. I only needed 2 patches. Fastest and easiest cleaning I ever did and I did a lot of it in the service. Brush it down with this mix, wash it off with Brakleen and wip it down with a rag, DONE. Use it in a well ventilated area.
It won't remove copper fouling but carbon is history fast.

Make SURE you remove all traces of the acetone before sending a blaze through that barrel :o

+1, I was thinking the same thing, I frequently work with Acetone, and while it's an excellent strong cleaning solvent it can be extremely harsh on composites. Don't think I would feel ok with Acetone getting into my G22 . Then again maybe the Kroil cuts the harshness of the Acetone ? I started using Kroil as a post cleanup barrel lube after reading on the net about how good the stuff is, and gotta say i'm really impressed so far..

I had it all over my G21 and it didn't harm anything. In fact, it has never looked as good. No traces of carbon remained. I rinsed it out with brake clean and dried it. Oiled it and it is like new. It was the easiest cleaning I have ever done.

I think they both worked together to get rid of carbon. Kroil alone never did as well. It is also easy to rinse off using brakleen. I haven't had time yet to try it on a rifle barrel but I will soon. On my Glock, it was the easiest cleaning I have ever done. Going to try it on my ar15 next. There is usually heavy carbon build up in the bolt recess of the bolt carrier. Using this followed up my Montanan Extremes copper killer should do well.

++1 on the Kroil & Acetone or milder is Kroil & Shooter's Choice. Both have worked well for me for many years. Lots of other "brews" out there that probably work equally as well! Eric in DL

The Kroil and acetone mix is one of the better penetrating oil remedies ever! Rusted nuts etc. Works unbelievably well.
