Gun safe thread

Im in the market for another large gun safe. Currently i have a small cannon, bigger liberty and a pentagon you can walk into that doubles as a tornado rated storm shelter. This safe is of course too big and ive had to move it twice which requires a forklift and rollback wrecker and garage door removal. I want the best made in usa custom built type safe- no time for the drywall stacks hoping itll make it thru a fire.
Rouge safe from Medford, Oregon. They have safes from other manufactures on the floor which they demonstrate how easy it is to get in to them. They are the real thing,I hear nothing but good reports from the owners. I was told by a friend of mine that owns one of them that there is only one guy on the planet that can get into it, I think he said the guy was from Australia. Beautiful safes to say the least, I no they are a long ways from you ,big expense . Just my 2cents

Zanotti Armor. Take down safe, move pieces easily. Custom builds on interior. Mark Zanotti is a gun guy. His best salesman for 8 years got replaced in January 2017.

I've got a 30 gun Zanotti coming this week. I will be able to put it anywhere I want it, then actually take it with me when I move - instead of donating it to the new owner like most safes that are too heavy to move.

How bad was the shipping to Alaska? I only live 25 miles away so I went FOB. I had my safe several years and a flood came along and ruined my carpeted floor. Mark gave me a new one at no charge. You'll be happy with your purchase.

It’s Rogue Safe. “Rouge Safe” brings up a bunch of links about pickpockets near a famous Paris nightclub, which is admittedly still security related...

even a class 5 vault door only is rated for 60 minutes of protection from a determined safecracker.

these home safes can be peeled in just a few minutes by a properly prepared thief.

best protection is concealment, burglar alarm and a prepared home owner.

the safe is a good way to store guns and keep them away from the kids.

Guess I need to update my location. Moved to TN. Shipping was always a killer to Alaska. It is an awesome safe. Finally have the room I need. Set up was a breeze. The heaviest piece was the door, but I took my time and put it together by myself. Hard to call a safe beautiful, but it is really good looking. Glad to buy USA.

Ck out "Strudy safe doors" built any size, shipping included. Nice lock mechanism. U.S. made, not super heavy. I did mine when I built my house. Reinforced concrete walls and roof. I would do it again!
If it was a garage, concrete blocks with re-bar, corrugated steel top with a concrete overlay.
I'm not as worried about crooks as I am with fire and the resulting water damage. The folks at
Sturdy safes were great to deal with and the price wasn't too bad.

Mark makes good stuff. Did you have anything custom ?

I lowered a safe down into a hunting buddy's basement by putting a rope on the truck front bumper and inching forward.
Someone gave me a bank safe, but it was so heavy, I could not get it off the cart.

Finally I made a 22 foot long walk in safe in my basement. Unfortunately 22' of concrete wall evaporates too much water. Goldenrods cannot deal with it and I still get mold spots on guns. So I have a dehumidifier that I have empty when it fills with water.

Clark, I'm sorry to hear that.

I build a lot of (more than 25) poured-in-place home safes/fireproof rooms/vaults and have done 4 underground shooting ranges for people's homes. And, as a custom home foundation contractor we do a lot of basements. I tell people "The Basement Can Be The BEST Place In The House...... Or The WORST!" Depending on how you build it.

A dry basement/vault/safe is ALL the result of proper planning. Proper drainage outside the room and a simple damp-proof tar emulsion is all that's required but IT IS required....... I tell folks "if water gets onto your wall, you've already screwed up"

Next time you empty your water pan crawl down and lookie-see if there's not a garden hose connection from which the water flows into the pan. IF THERE IS, then you find yerself an inch-and-a-quarter roto-hammer and forevermore drill a HOLE out the corner of your room on the low side. Now twist a cone of hardware cloth up into the end of a 3-4-6ft section of garden hose and poke it in the hole. NEVER drain the pan again.

The fireplace pit is in the gun safe.
I am going to have the top of the chimney resurfaced.

The RSC certification is a complete joke. RSC= Residential Security Container.
