Gun Purchase Guilt Thread

I must have one of the most understanding wives of anyone on this site. I always tell my wife before I make any firearms purchases. I also let her know of any of my expenditures that are gun related. Her response is typically, it is your money, do as you please. I am truly blessed.
I am in that lucky group too. So long as an overseas holiday is happening. BTW - I now have a safe in the living room! Just ran out of space in our small house, so there is a grey monolith in the corner. Just picked up a Sako Forrester ( L579) for the action. Barrel toast/rust/bent. Now what calibre??? Maybe...Creedmoor...

There are 2 strategies to deal with a gun purchase guilt of your partner.
The first one is to get your partner interested in shooting. I know a few couples that attend matches together. However, it works out in approx. 10% of cases.

I implemented the second strategy: I just have 3 rifles using the same stock and the same model of March scope. The same mount. The same barrel contour. The only difference is caliber and barrel length (1-2 inches difference). It looks as if I was using one and the same gun all the time.

Me too. She is the only one that knows where my ledger is too. When I croak, I don't want anyone trying to "steal" them with low offers.

My beloved wife tolerated my obsessions in the shooting sports namely competing in NRA precision pistol, Hunter's Pistol Silhouette, deer hunting, and groundhog hunting never complaining. When I retired, she bought me a Weatherby Mark V Super Varmint Master rifle.

The only related activity she frowned upon was my annual groundhog leg roasts that I hosted for my crazy buddies back in Western, PA. When we move to eastern, PA; she band the annual roasts. :(
Do you really eat them?

Do you really eat them?
Yes, many times. I can PM you my recipe if you are so inclined.

They are actually not that bad, the hind legs that is. The meat is dark and can be a bit greasy but cooked on a grill, a lot of the fat drains off. Of course, seasoning is important. They are herbivories and only eat vegetable matter.

Shot a lot of Rock Chucks but never considered eating them . Always wanted to try a jack rabbit though.

Yep. They look just like a big squirrel once they are skinned and laying in a big bowl.

When the wife and I were dating (Viking age)she new about my hobby and never minded about it. The bills were paid, food on the table clothes on our backs. Overtime was what paid for the hobby and what ever she wanted (she also worked and had her own money).
