Gun project finally in the works

Figuring out the type of rifle that makes the most sense for oneself take a lot of patience and self reflection.

This project first came about when going to the local gunshop just didn't do it for me anymore. I knew there was more out there, for the true rifle nut, than going from a remington to a sako or from a bushnell to a leupold or khales.

So about 6 months ago i started my education towards the high end rifle market.
As well as saving my pennies, lol.

So Here are the final components that my Smith and I have come up with.
Keep in mind this is very personnal.

Action: Kelby Grizzly II Repeater RHRP, fitted for a remington type safety
Why? because its custom and it can still take field work without binding up.

Stock: Mcmillan A-5 black molded with adjustable cheekpiece and lenght of pull
Why? because i prefer prone shooting but aso like the fact that it has a wide slopped forend

Barrels: Clay spencer built interchangeable 308 match and 6mmbr lapua barrels
Why ? because i couldn't make up my mind on wich caliber, so i got both,
Basically with this setup i can get any caliber barrel in the future with a 308 boltface.

trigger: jewell, why? cuz its the best.

Scope: Schmidt & Bender 5x25x56 Police marksman II With the P4 reticle
Why ? Do i really need to explain!.

Rings And bases: Badger Picatinny style

Smith: clay Spencer
Why? Cuz he's well known for his outsanding long range precision rifles.
and hes a nice guy.
heres some of his work.

Total cost?Too dam much. But its too late know cuz im commited to it.

Hope you guys like it. project will probably complete in 7 months.
Scope will be here any day. I'll use it on my sako for the time being.

Silverfox,

Wow. That should be a super rig. I know you'll love that S&B scope--it is the best variable optic I've ever tried. Sharp, bright, clear, good contrast, superb controls.

thanks, I remember discussing my project in past posts and you recommended to me that i could go with 2 barrels of different calibers, so i did.

So thanks for the past advice. Some people do listen to you, you know lol.

Ditto Kay on the scope. That is much to busy for me to cope with, but SB's are the finest. I've got 3 swith barrel rifles and kinda like the idea, but I don't switch them too often. I'm sure you will love it. Put up pictures of the 1's and 2's when you get it running. JimDee

While defending myself against attacking prairie dogs one weekend last year, I had a Swarovski 6-24 on one rifle and an S&B 4-16 on another. Both are great scopes, but I found that it was easier on my eyes to look through the S&B for extended periods.

Once you get past the sticker shock and take it out in the field the first time, you'll be very happy with your choice. I've got two of them now and plans for two more.
