In the vein of music threads as we all practice social distancing...

There are so many greats, but this guy is my all time favorite, and i think this video is incredible...To watch him just chat and play little riffs and hooks that are just pure art.

In at 1:15 he says "...its a clever trick if you can do it..." yea, um sure, and that's an understatement.

10:10 "...this delightfully vulgar piece of equipment..."

at 12:10 the little blues licks are just magic


I know others have their favorites, and there are lots of really great talented guys that will probably get linked in here, but take a few minutes I think it's worth it (and kissing the '58 Les Paul is a nice touch)

 
Go to YouTube and find Jerry Reed playing "The Claw".
He was known for his comedy but was a serious guitar player.
He tuned his guitars in ways that people still haven't figured out.
 
I really enjoyed that. Haven't touched mine in almost ten years. Maybe it's time to see just how bad I still am :)
 
I love Knopfler also Wade. I only recently discovered Spotify and loaded most of the Dire Straits albums as well as his solo stuff. In addition to being an accomplished guitarist he is an amazing storyteller. ‘Sailing to Philadelphia’ album is one of my favorites.

Robin, that too is one of the things that drew me into his work. I'm really into lyrics too.

I remember when I first heard Sultans of Swing on the radio in my dorm room at UGA in '78. It was like nothing I'd ever heard. I wasn't even sure I liked it, but I couldn't turn away, it was so different.

Some of his lyrics can nearly bring me to tears (Brothers in Arms), and other times the lyrics and music can be so visual like the whole of Sultans of Swing, I can see the place, or "...run your finger round the rim of his glass, fade to black..."
