Grunig & Elmiger

Hey guys,

What would be the feasibility of building a 6mmBR on one of these Swiss made actions? A Grunig & Elmiger in .308 has come up for sale locally for a very reasonable price.

I see that they build some very accurate rifles in 6mmBR for 300m free competition in Europe, and have set world records.

The task would require that you have a barrel chambered in 6br and threaded to fit the G&E action. Screw it on, check headspace, and shoot it. Doesn't get much simpler.

rebarrel G&E action is nothing difficult, just request a lathe with metric thread )

CAUTION : G&E action are strong BUT bolt have a very bad design in case of pierced primer, best is to drill escape holes in the bolt body .

One of the fellows in the club I shoot at uses G&E rifles. From my perspective, buy the action. Putting on a barrel is no big deal for a gunsmith with a lathe.
