7mm-08 in Long Barrel

Looking for some real world info on this project I am concocting in my skull.

I have always wanted to build a nice big 7mm-08 for fun benchshooting, PD's, steel & milkjugs at long distances. I have been blown away by how much fun, effecient & accurate the 6mmBR has been shooting 87's/105's. So I am thinking I could have just as much fun with the 7mm-08 and 162's except farther out.

Anybody out there have any real world velocities for this combo in a 28-30" barrel? Yes, I have considered the 284 & 7mm Saum, but I am interested in what the mellow & effecient 7mm/08 can do..

I'm not for sure on the barrel length, but I know Forum member vinnie has a 7-08 he played with in F-Open Class.

The 7-08 has been widely used in High Power Silhouette matches for exactly the reason you want to use it, it's mellow and throws a bullet with good BC.

I don't have a ton of experience with it, but I do have a range buddy that has a Remmy with a 26" barrel. He can push a 162gr A-Max to about 2750fps IIRC. I know it's very accurate, shooting under .5MOA pretty consistently, and besting at about 1/4"@100yds.
