Groundhog Targets

Where can I get the groundhog targets that most groundhog shoots use? There is one @ Varminthunters.com with a 3/4" white head bull and a 1.5" white body bull, both with larger scoring rings. Is this the size to use for 100,300 & 500yds?

We're trying to get some bench shooting going in our area, have a 600m range, and figure that shooting at fun targets might get more guys involved.

Any help is appreciated and thanks.

Here is an example of the target we use at Mifflin, it's proportional at each distance..the 300 is 3/5's this size and the 200 has a quarter in 10X area...for the most each of the 5 or 6 going on in the northeastern part of the USA use different targets...we experimented with all kinds of colors and sizes until we arrived at these..haven't had much complaining since we did..most are printed by local printers...send me your mailing address and I'll send you a copy of each....

Mine from today at 500 yards....

Set up 2 litre pop bottles full of water and shoot those til you get really good. Then, move down to 20 oz. size. When you hit the bottles you will know it because the water will explode the bottle on impact.

No

Shippensburg's targets, same for all classes and at all distances, can be found here:

St. Thomas's targets
http://www.geocities.com/groundhogshoot/
are smaller than Ship or Mifflin,Frank's nice targets), think the 10 ring is .850 outside dia., and are the same for all distances and classes except they have a black hog for Deer Hunter class. Sorry but the kids busted the scanner or I'd send you some of them. Their sighter targets are on the same large sheet. That's nice also.

Most groundhog shoot targets have a circular bull with scoring rings out to a 6 ring. The scoring rings are then placed onto a outline of a groundhog. Any shot going into the groundhog scores 5 points. So there's an element of luck thrown in that adds to the shoot.

Most clubs have unlimited sighters within a set time period. One of the clubs here in PA
http://www.southforkrifleclub.homestead.com/groundhog.html
has 1 sighter at 100 and that's it.

Another club in Maryland:
http://www.mayberrygpa.com/ground_hog.html
uses a much smaller target. But only shoots 100,200,& 300. But word is that'll be changing next year as the popularity of their shoot has grown to the point that they're suppose to be adding land and distance to there range.

Thanks guys for all your help and suggestions. Frank is going to send me 3 of their targets to get us started. It sounds like there's some uniformity in target sizes/scoring although it doesn't matter too much as I doubt that we'll ever have any cross country competitions. Yep, the NAGHSA.,North American Ground Hog Shooters Association) Although, out here we call them marmots, and the ones that we got are the Vancouver Island variety, which happen to be one of the most endangered mammals in North America.,Wolves, cougars, eagles and loggers responsible) So targets are about as close to shooting groundhogs as we can get. Thanks again.
