Yeah, I have seen them on fence posts as well. The first one that I spotted in a tree, a cherry tree, I had to do a double take because it was up in that tree like darn squirrel.I have shot four or five out of a tree and many of them sitting on top of fence posts. The fence post shot has to be my favorite.
I shot one in a tree, shot it with a .45ACP. I used to have a German Shepherd (Thor) that loved to hunt ground hogs. He dug this one up from where it had burrowed along an abondoned railroad track. He dug into the stone ballast a ways and came up dragging this ground hog out by it's ass then it got away from him and run up a small clump of scrub trees. It sat there about two feet above my head gnashing it's teeth at me and Thor, so I pulled the Combat Commander and shot it. He was a good dog, and I also wish I still had that Colt. How many other folks have ever seen a ground hog in tree?
