If not, I'm sure someone will correct this. ;) WD

Thanks, for the info on the matches. Shippensburg is the closest range to me. The others are 6 or 7 hour drives.

Anyone know of any matches closer to Montrose?

George

The Polk County Gun Club near Landrum SC and Columbus NC is holding open benchrest matches the 3rd Sunday of the month beginning at noon. We are using the groundhog targets and shoot eggs too! Come and join us! Our rules so far are fairly informal but is typical of other groundhog matches. We shoot 100 and 300 yrds. All type rifles are welcome. Come and join us, its fun!

Mifflin Co sportsman's is closer, just outside of Burnham PA. That's if you're from Montrose, pa

Carolina -

Howdy !

FWIW - I used to drive 7hr to make the " Western Pennsylvania World Groundhog Shooting Championships " held @ the
Southfork Rifle Range near Beaverdale, PA .

This is an upper tier match, with a sizeable number of great shooters, and lot's of prize $$$ and handouts.

It's a well-run match held @ a picturesque range near the Johnstown Flood Memorial.

The " championship " shoot is held in late Sep, amongst the great fall foliage there in West PA.

If you gotta drive 7hr, might as well make it worth you while !

I've heard that the West PA shoot had spun-off a similar West VA match, but don't know any of the particulars.
The Southfork boyz could fill you in.

With regards,
357Mag

Southfork is my favorite match to shoot, probably the most difficult but I like the format and challenge. The 2 day Worlds Championship has lots of great prizes and a good payout, Savage and Nightforce are 2 of the bigger sponsors. Check out their website

I agree with gunnermhr and 357Mag. South Fork is a great time. I drive 3 1/2 hours twice a year. Once for the Varmint Hunter Shoot in June and once for the two day World Groundhog Shoot in September. Well run shoot and great prizes. I will be there again this year. ;D
