Grizzly front rests

Anyone have any experience with these? Just looking to go shoot some local matches casually. Under 300$ sounds good to me. How valuable is having windage adjustment on a front rest? (This will be my first)

If you are referring to the one with the cable adjustment , they tend to be a bit sloppy in movement . Back-lash , due to loose gearing , or cable flex . Most of us who have the cable adjuster type modified them by removing the cable , and placing the handle on the deck adjuster screw . .

I have one without the cable adjuster. I don't shoot matches and the rest is perfect for my use. I don't know how hard (if possible) it would be to convert to the windage adjustment top.

My .02¢, They are OK, of medium quality and with a couple design flaws.
1. Clunky cable, easily replaced with an automotive manifold stud IIRC, it's 5/16-18 by 5/16-24. (as per Bill Norris' post)
2. Socket head flat screw that holds the top to the jack screw is prone to loosening. Cheap fix that may or may not work is Loctite.
3. Bottom of top lock nut is a spanner type. Spanner wrench is flimsy. Switch to a thin hex nut that can be tightened up with a box or open end wrench.
4. Problems 2, I keyed the jack screw to the base so it can't rotate under any circumstance.

I think you could just order the windage top from Grizzly.

I have 2 of these. One I bought from the original maker, Bald Eagle Rests, Bill Gebhardt I believe. The 2nd one I bought from Grizzly. Both are good for my purposes. For the price, tough to beat.

I've got one, started F-Class with it, great value. Yes, the windage thing was not great. "Shadetree" makes or made a drop-in joystick top for it, and that was an amazing improvement. Only reason I quit using it was I got a deal on a Seb.

I use one. Largely stock. I find the cable to be acceptable (never used anything else so don't have anything to compare it to.) I admit it can be finicky, but it works well enough for my shooting.

I did kludge up a different forearm stop for it, but other than that it's as it came from Grizzly (other than the bag.)

Haven't looked lately, but pricing used to be all over the place. I think I paid $239 for mine (at a time when every model listed was at the same price); was going to get a 2nd one for a narrower forearm, and saw $489. Two weeks later ordered I it at $189. A few months later a buddy ordered at $279. A couple more months it was $359. No idea why.

Different bags for different forearm dimensions. Suggest forgoing the Grizzly bags and buying good Protektor leather units.
AGREE. Call Josh at Protektor and he’ll take great care of you. Mention the guys on Accurate Shooter pointed you towards him and you might even get a discount.

I have the Bald Eagle cast iton Y-rest. I added a speed screw and relocated the windage knob. Here is my thread detailing the other modifications I made. I really like the rest.
