Great service from small gun businesses

So much to complain about lately, thought I would share some positive news.

Over the last year I've had some excellent experiences from some of our small gun businesses.

BAT - excellent service. Quoted one year on an SV action. To make up for the long turn around they offered any style fluted bolt which I took them up on. Got the action in a little over six months. Under promise and over deliver. Outstanding.

Larry Scott - ordered two triggers. Larry shipped what must have been the next day, before I was able to get the check to him. All my triggers will come from Larry from now on.

Krieger Barrels - very nice people to deal with, by email and over the phone. Another under promise and over deliver as I got the barrel a couple months ahead of expected. I will buy from them again.

McMillan stocks - much faster delivery then anticipated. I ordered a tiger stripe combination of orange and black and the lady said sometimes that doesn't turn out well, and directed me to a website to take a look. I got what she suggested and couldn't be happier. Looks awesome and the fit and finish is great.

Harrells - everyone knows these are nice guys to deal with. I ordered a pair of rings on their website. Order said actual shipping costs will be added to the order. I get the rings and no shipping charges were included in the bill. I expected $5 to $10. Package shows $2.47 for shipping...they absorbed that cost. The rings are the best dove tail rings I have ever bought. I have some JJ Industries and Kelblys which are good, but these Harrell's are just a little bit better. They have earned my business.

Mike Lucas - my email about a bore guide was returned within 8 hours. I provided the details, Mike came back with a price, time frame as to when he could ship, and what to do next. I replied that I agreed to those terms and he said he would add it to the next production run. I'm expecting it in mid December. His prices have gone up but they are worth every penny.

Some things in America are already great!

Can I add Greg Young at Southern Precision Rifles. Keeps a good supply of barrels and can get them to you promptly. Great customer service.

Today I was thinking of starting a similar thread but my next candidate is a large company. McMaster Carr is extremely organized and has a great website. Their shipping is fast and inexpensive. Every time I order from them I'm very happy with the results.

There are a lot of forum members here that deserve similar praise. not sure about calling them out. Maybe others who have done more business with them directly will post their experience.

I'll second on the Harrell Boys. I ordered a Culver powder measure from them a bunch
of years ago. When I tried to give them my charge card #, they said just send a check
when I get it.

+1 on Harrel's and Greg at SPR. For the smokeless muzzleloader crowd, Luke at Arrowhead Sporting Goods is top shelf.

Add on Hart Rifle Barrels, Apulia NY. I have had them barrel several rifles, evaluate used rifles for me, even tighten up a barrel that spun loose (interesting story, not one they put on), fix one of my totally lame attempts to bed a rifle, list goes on. Great folks, salt of the earth and did great work every time.

Great post Otter!

I'd like to add The Dresden Gun Store (Adam Bentley), and 21st Century Reloading to that list. WD

Mike "the rifler" on this site. 1st class to deal with and on time and reasonable. Great work and a load of patience to listen to my questions. Out of Tamaqua PA.

Definitely add "Buddha" and the fine folks at Bartlein Barrels to your list along with Lester Bruno.
There are not many barrel companies that can build a barrel to your exact specs, including gain twist. H M Pope might have been the last.
I started getting stuff from Lester about 1990 after meeting him at the Super Shoot, iirc.
When I met Bat he had just built his first falling block action, working out of his garage up in Rathdrum, Idaho. Dave Brennan asked me to do an article on him for Precision Shooting Magazine.

We are indeed blessed to have the number of amazing craftsmen (and women) in the accuracy shooting sports, and a clientele that will pay them more than just a living wage for their efforts!
