Great experience with 108 Berger BT in 6x47L

Well I was looking for another match load to shoot at 600yds after running out of 105 Lapuas and I had aquired a box of 108 Berger BTs that had been pointed. I took out the rifle with a few loads using 37.5, 38, and 38.5gr of H4350 with the bullet seated .015" off the lands ignited by a CCI 450. Well the first loaded yielded a 5 shot group of .377" center to center. I thought that was going to be my match load till I shot the next load of 38gr and got a 5 shot group (100 yds) measuring .156" center to center. Needless to say I found my new load. I figured I would just share a little.

Congrats, but will it repeat it?
Wayne.

Wayne,
I intend to find out when I get a chance. With this particular rifle if a load shot sub 1/4" first time it was repeatable. The load I am trying to find a substitute for would shot 1/4" or under time after time after time, as long as I did my part. I sure hope this new load will do that. My hunting load for this rifle is a .4" or less load using 105 VLD hunting bullets. This gun will shoot almost every load under 1/2" at 100yds.

Thats good shooting and a well made rifle. You need to make sure that your gunsmith on this rifle is at least on your Christmas card list, and maybe even invite him to Thanksgiving dinner. ;) WD

Wayne,
It is truly one amazing rifle. It is not a bench gun. I had it built specifically for 600 yd matches and hunting rifle. The match I shoot it in here in Louisiana is a match that is very similar to FT/R with a few changes to rifle specs including less caliber restrictions. I have shot a 583-16x before using a Harris bipod and rear bag. Going to stretch it out again in September.

Peter,
All I can say is that is just plain awesome ;) I envy you and your rifle, I wish you the best of luck in September.
Wayne.
