Starting Again-
I'm starting again, tuning a load for my 6x47L.
In the weeks leading to the Nationals, I was faced with the task of developing a load for this rifle with a short supply of Berger 105 VLD molys. Which meant I couldn't just borrow a load from my friends.
With the chrony, I found a load with great numbers, and H4350. But this didn't seem to result in great groups.
I did shoot a .175 at 100 yards though.
With time diminishing, I decided to go with this load, and bullets seated at the lands.
In the event, things weren't that bad. I managed fourth place for score, six targets--all three days--and was very pleased to take home the plaque.
So much of score shooting is wind, though, and luck, that I'm going to change my bullet.
Most of the top Nationals competitors are shooting Dashers, so there is no direct comparison, and I may have a handicap with the twist of my barrel, but apparently many of these guys are shooting the 108s.
I'm hoping to find a good load for the naked Berger 108 in my 6x47L.
I was getting about 3075 with the moly'd 105s.
Preferred powders would be H4350 and N160.
Anyone have an idea how much I should diminish my load for the naked 108s?
Does the 108 perform better in any particular velocity band?
