Grease for bolt action...?

Mobil 28 aviation grease, very temperature stable, doesn't turn to glue in the cold or oil in the heat. Cleans up really easy

Here is the test that I saw before buying the Weapon Shield lubricants.
I'm not promoting any products so you be the judge. If I find something better, I'll switch. I used several different lubes over the years including Militec and Slip2000. The Slip 2000 worked a lot better in the piston of my Mossberg 930. It's in contact with gases and most all lubes just dry out and turn to carbon. The Slip2000 grease stayed 75% wet after 25 shots. I haven't tried the Weapon Shield in this application yet but will this summer. I do know the grease on the sear of my Savage rifle reduced the trigger pull weight from 2lb to 1-3/4lb. And it reduced the pull in my Taurus PT111 by 1/2 lb. Also, there is a difference in my press with Weapon Shield oil vs Militec oil using them on the ram. It moves (without a load) much easier. There is a a lot that goes into lubricants. The modern engine oils do not have the zinc and phosphorous compound that acts as a high pressure barrier against wear. If used in an older engine with flat tappet lifters, the cam and lifters will wear out very quickly.

I have been accused of over lubing everything with firearms but none of mine have wear problems. If in combat in the desert with blowing sand, I would have to rethink that, but it doesn't really matter where I shoot and everything gets cleaned quite frequently.

My order of Molybdenum disulfide from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B2NBAOY/?tag=accuratescom-20

arrived so I put it to immediate use. Disassembled the bolts from two of my Savages and wiped down the internals carefully to remove all obvious wetness from oil or grease, but was careful not to degrease them. Then wiped down all the parts with the powdered moly. I also coated the bolt raceways in the action with a light dusting of powder including the cocking ramp.

Results were immediate. Bolt lift is much improved and smoother even though these both have previously had lift kits installed. And the bolt slides much smoother in the raceways..

Be interesting to see the long term results.

Doesn’t that stuff attract moisture? Or do I have it confused with something else?

i use just a small amount of brownells grease on my bolt action lugs

now on AR bolt lugs i use phil's tenacious oil and it is tenacious!

Phil Woods oil is really kick ass stuff. From back in the days of racing BMX. After seeing your post I stripped a few auto guns and oiled them with my Tenacious Oil and man, that is some smooth stuff.

Do not spill it on the carpet. :(
