Gre Tan firing pin assembly ?

Guys,
Has anyone had any issues with Gre Tan firing pin assemblies? I'm thinking of replacing my rem 700 crap piece with something else. I would like to hear any info about these Gre Tan pieces before i drop the money on one. TIA

PJ

Great stuff. Depending on the caliber you're shooting, you might want to throw in a bushing job as well,For 17 or 20 cals, this is usually a must have).

Guys,
To give a little info on what i'm doing. This is a 223 build with following parts:
rem 700 action
Mike rock barrel 20" fluted
MCM A5 stock
Badger ord. floor plate

I plan on using it for varmint and target shooting.

All my XP's and 700's have that firing pin assembly along with the bolt bushing and there has never been a issue with them.....

Guys,
Anyone notice a difference in the way the bolt operates? Any difference in the way the rifle recocks it self? TIA

PJ

No. But there's noticeably less disturbance to the rifle when you dry fire it. That is with the light models--the only model I have.

I had Gre-Tan do a complete rebuild of a Remington 700, he reused my David Tubb firing pin, installed the firing pin bushing, double sleeved the bolt, replaced the firing pin spring, cocking piece and bolt shroud. Timed the Jewel trigger and installed my Gary Schneider barrel using a double pin setup on the recoil lug. Has to be the best work I have seen - he's a real machinist.

I'd send him the bolt for the complete bushing job.
