It has always been the mission of politicians to buy VOTES. The Dems figured it out. There are now more people with their hand out to the Government, than contributing members of society. Votes paid for and counted.

Seems to me that our country was doing OK when, 'Brother Bill' left office. We had, (heaven forbid) a surplus of money. Then along comes Georgie and gives us all a $600 check for doing nothing! Talk about buying votes!!

The Times itself reported in 1999 that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were under pressure from the Clinton administration to increase lending to minorities and low-income home buyers--a policy that necessarily entailed higher risks. Can there really be a question, other than in the fevered imagination of the Times, where the push to reduce lending standards and boost home ownership came from?

A housing crisis didn't start under the Bush administration, Not that Bush was any better then the big spending liberals..

Ray
Perhaps you have forgotten how the whole thing started Ray. Yes, Clinton played a major role in it, along with the help of the Republican party, led by Sen. Phil Gramm. Gramm joined forces with Clinton to repeal Glass-Steagall. Something too many are not aware of, or simply refuse to acknowledge.

Were republicans involved on August 11, 1999, Clinton commuted the sentences of 16 members of FALN, which is a Puerto Rican paramilitary organization that set off 120 bombs in the United States? Mostly in New York City and Chicago? Just one example of Pardongate

Congress condemned this action by President Clinton, with votes of 95-2 in the Senate and 311-41 in the House. The U.S. House Committee on Government Reform held an investigation on the matter, but the Justice Department prevented FBI officials from testifying. Wait for it, Eric Holder would make a perfect attorney general for Obama's liberal agendas like fast and furious..

I suppose undermining our intelligence agencies and down sizing our military couldn't have helped with the attack on September 11th?

I'm sure if a republican gets stuck cleaning up Obama"s mess, You will be sure to state how republicans are failing again..

Thanks Ray! I wasn't aware we were at war with one of our own territories :o nor was I aware that the 911 emergency service contributed to our "economic woes".

Like I said just an example of the pardons:

I think your awareness may still be a issue. I hope you don't believe gun control is republicans fault also..

Ray

My point was to economic woes that resulted in "driving up the unemployment rate, and the need for millions to rely heavily on unemployment benefits" could have a bit to do with a shaky economic outlook do to some slippery liberals.. I guess it's easier to just blame everything on Bush

Guys, don't you understand that you can't argue with liberals? Facts don't matter. Feeling count.
Glass-Stegall. Fact Jim! "The world as we created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking" ;)

Look up the repeal of Glass-Stegall, Ray. Then research the tax breaks offered by the GOP to businesses that have jumped ship and moved production to other countries, and you'll start to understand. While you're at it, look at the owners of most of those companies. That's right….. most are owned by Republicans. As for me, I'll continue to remain an Independent!

"Glass-Stegall" What does that prove, we have some Rino's that are signing on with liberal agendas? It is still the liberal agenda that is the problem.

Ray

No disrespect rich but being an independent is good as far as a way to think but when you go to the voting booth you gotta vote for the lesser of the 2 evils. A vote for the green party, red party, libertarian or whatever is as good as a vote for the dems. How do you think i feel working for the strongest union there ever was but still hating gun control and gay marriage?

I understand completely Dusty. Given a choice between two idiots, I voted for the Republican. I worked as a union Ironworker in the nuclear industry for many years, and retired from the Ironworkers. And before someone jumps onto the union bashing bandwagon, you didn't pay one red cent into my benefits and pension, nor my education!

Yea i dont think anybody here is paying for my benefits either. Im not in social security the railroad retirement is a whole standalone entity

I remember quite clearly, Paul Ryan (republican) trying to convince the public that taxpayer money funded the Railroad Retirement System, and his "crusade" to destroy that retirement fund. He was eventually exposed, and caught in those lies >:(
That was part of his "path to prosperity" ::)

Both parties are attacking social security like a entitlement.. I wonder when they say social security is bankrupt, why they never say welfare is bankrupt?

I paid into social security and after 18 operations I am now on ssd after 35 years of working. I vote in all elections and love my country. I will vote for the next president and with some hope the person that runs wont be a career politician if you get my drift.

At least so far Jon, you have 3 choices: 1.) Trump; 2.) Carly Fiorina; and 3.) Dr. Ben Carson. So far they would be FAR PREFERABLE to all but Ted Cruz and Scott Walker, and Scott has not YET entered officially..
