Graham TX clay bird match

We should be wrapping up while it’s still only a crisp 101 degrees tomorrow. I keep telling myself that I’m “looking forward to it”.

See ya’ll there!

While I am sitting in the A/C tomorrow watching a bunch of kids that I don't know, standing on the stage looking at their dance teacher like they don't have a clue what they are supposed to be doing, I will try to remember that's what grand pa's are supposed to do.
I'll be cheering ya'll on

Sorry you won’t be there. Hope the dance teachers are as hot as the weather outside.

On the brightside, your reloading room is still there and you can reload if you need to. That's my goal, get the loading room at least where I could load a case if I wanted. It's been 12 years since we had moved and I had forgotten what a PIA it is...or we might've just stayed put, shop be damned ;)

Y'all have fun, I'm still a few weeks away from being ready to start shooting again.

Jon Trammel, first place, he took home $1,000.00 dollars. When was the last time you heard of someone winning 1K in a benchrest match
Darrel Martin, Second
Kyle Schultz, third
Don't know what 2nd and 3rd paid but it was sizeable
Hats off to the Graham club for running this match.
These Texas clay bird matches come in different varieties but they all have one thing in common. Not a lot of rules.
About 6 or so rules, not a 80 page rulebook.
No rail guns.
No caliber over .308
No one piece rests
No wind flags except those provided by range
No spotting except during sight in period
No spotting scopes on benches

The average payout is $400.00 for first place at most matches. The majority of ranges are privately owned and have to pay labor to target crew, scorers, buy targets, built backers, pay caterer, and maintain the range.

The "association" consists of six ranges located in different areas of the state. Three to six hours driving time for most to get to the different matches.
Little Creek range is in Utopia, TX owned by Sam and Joe Duke
Twisted Oak range is in Hallettsville, TX owned by the Pohl family
Emert Ranch range is in Robert Lee(San Angelo) owned by Tad and Therese Emert
Graham Range is operated by the Graham Rifle and Pistol club.
Small Groups range, Cumby Tx and the match is run by Denny and Polly Henderson
Walker County Benchrest is in Huntsville, TX owned by Larry and Beth Deese
Pine Valley Benchrest is in Huntsville, TX owned by yours truly

Come give it a try.

A big "Attaboy" from me to the Graham crew. Well run match as always. Also congrats to the winners and especially Jon Trammel who shot a tremendous score under very tricky conditions. Thanks to match director Chuck Dodson, and a special thanks to David Alaniz who went out of his way to help get my truck fixed and back on the road home. Good food, good company, and tough competition. See y'all next year
Scott

I was going to see if anyone might have a picture of the clay and board setup. Just to get a idea to how to practice for a shoot like this.
Thanks, Mark
