Got 6ppc now what?

I just bought a used 6ppc 262NK, Lee six thumb hole stock 22inch Krieger barrel, Hall S action. I also got 100pcs of fire formed brass. Now what do need, I know I need dies, but what should I get. I know I need to fire form new brass, so what method do you guys recommend.

If possiable go to where they are shooting a bench rest match and see what they are using. Ask questions and take it all in. I use a redding small base S full lengeh die with bushing to size the brass and bump the sholder back. Wilson seat. Most use VV133 or H322 powders. Bullets try any 6mm custom bullets. Every rifle likes something diffrent. Ask the guy you bought it from for loads. Good luck. Now the fun begins

What bushing sizes should I get for a 262 neck.

Since you ave brass ready to shoot, or already shot, send a few to Harrells, they'll send you a die that works for your chamber. A Wilson seater is great, but if you want to stay with threaded dies, a Redding Comp seater is good too. I would get a .258 bushing, and if you can swing it, get a .257 and a .259 too.

Depending on your skills and time, Ron Hoehn can sell you prepped brass ready to fireform. Load a bullet and shoot it.

Do a search for the MANY different powder/primer/bullet choices you have.

Ditto on the Harrells sizing die, the ppc reamer dimensions varied greatly.....an off the shelf die will cause problems.
I prefer the wilson seater also, but you'll need a small arbor press. With this you can chase the lands by simply adding shims
Make sure to get Lapua brass.

ditto on the Harrells FL die, a good start for the bushing is as stated .268. I use a wilson neck die until the bolt starts showing resistance and then I run em through the Harrels. A Wilson in line seater is great and about the same price as a Redding Comp die. You can get shims and not have to buy the microtop die, just the regular Wilson seating die. You can use a mallet to size and seat bullets with the Wilson's or you can get a arbor press. Some bench shooters will seat the bullets with finger pressure only in the Wilson's seater die using a .269 bushing or not even neck sizing at all as long as the neck is rebounding back to original size. When they get loose necks then they size them. The Wilson neck sizing die only sizes about 1/3 to 1/2 of the neck about where the base of the bullet is. You will get long case life using this method and there is really no need to work your brass any more than this. But on the other hand I know bench shooters that resize with the Harrells or other custom dies every time, and shoot very well doing it. There more than one way to skin a cat and I'm sure your reloading bench will have more stuff on it than you know what to do with in a short amount of time. Get a good caliper and one of the neck measuring devise's out there. You will need to keep track of OAL and trim when necessary, there are several good trimmers out there but I prefer the Wilson's. Your going to need a good hand primer and can spend as much money as you want on these gizmo's, but I keep putting the high dollar ones up and getting out my old Lee hand priming tool. Good luck with the PPC, I just love mine, wished I had two or three of them.

Ok thanks guys.. I will send Harrel some brass to get a FL die with bushings ranging from 257,258,259 and 268,269 as mudman stated. I thought it would be more standardized than that since most everyone is shooting the 262 neck. Thats a lot of bushings for me to get.

Then get a wilson seater die or redding seater die.

I think thats it, anything else Im forgetting.

Better watch your math again----
What good will a .268 & .269 bushing do for your .262 neck ???????
You could toss a cat through the difference :D

Preacher.. Im glad you cought that.. I was just seeing if everyone was asleep:D and if you guys where going to let me buy all those bushings

Hi Dan/ glad to shoot with you the other day. You are really making great progress. Now get some/make some good wind flags & you will make another big leap forward/ Chaz
