Goofy Gun Slang and Expressions

257 ack I was born in Johnson City, but I always liked Jonesborough more, it was where Washington county school board offices were, and I could get in way more mischief there.

Heh... The SE PA dialect is even better...
A guy was driving down the road and saw a tractor and a wagon parked by the side of the road, and a sign that said Boat For Sale.

Well, he’d been thinking about getting a boat so he stopped at the farm house and knocked on the door.

The farmer came to the door and the guy says “I saw the tractor and the wagon but I wanted to ask about the sign that says Boat For Sale.

Farmer says, “Yah, dey boat for sale...”

Go to Reading PA and use the town’s name as it is spelled, Reading as in reading a book, and they’ll laugh at you. Literally laugh, shake their heads and say “It’s Redding.” You say that’s not how it’s spelled and they go “Yeah it is. R-e-a-d-i-n-g. Redding.”

Like the town in England I guess.

I agree with Jackie, LAP-WA may be correct in Finland, but this is the US of A and we pronounce it LA-PU-AH, so put that in your foreign pipe and puff on it.

There is no way that I could come up with any different kind of pronunciation for Lapua in the USA. I would pronounce it just like the the Lapua guy in a previously linked video pronounced it. Many years ago I was talking to one of the shooters at my club/range. He kept going on and on about "Sahara" bullets, and I had no idea what he was talking about. He could see that I was confused and he then said "The Bulletsmiths"

Not to nit pick...well OK I am nit picking but I believe that the Finish guy in the video saying Lapua is not saying LAP-wa he is saying LAP-u-wa. You have to listen closely. Maybe even slow down the playback speed. He emphasizes the first syllable, the second syllable (the u) is very much de-emphasized but it is there, and the third syllable is de-emphasized but not as much.

So today I learned how the Fins pronounce Lapua. Am I going to change the way I say it? Probably not ;)

I get a kick out of people that proudly proclaim "I redid it" and " see what I'm sayin"
This tread has given me quite a few laughs, thanks y'all.
