Goofy Gun Slang and Expressions

I'd just be real happy if people would learn the difference between a mag and a clip. And while at it, bullets vs rounds. Also, in the movies why do the dozens of reticles look nothing like the dozens of reticles I have used over the years? Big mystery to me. Maybe Alec Baldwin supplied the designs?

I would bet that if you went to any shooting Match in the United States, and asked if any one was selling any LOP-WA Brass, 90 % of the shooters would say…….”never heard of it”

If you did the same thing but asked, “does anybody have any La-pu-a for sale“, a resounding majority would
know exactly what you were talking about.
Watched the video, it is pronounced just like I might have expected. Those that don't know what you are talking about are entitled to be wrong and confused.

Hey, the United States Of America became the greatest Country on the Planet by saying LA-PU-AH……..so there you have it.5 :)

Thomas Jefferson wrote…….”When in the course of human events, Shooters seek the Ultimate in Rifle Accuracy, they will choose La-Pu-Ah Brass”.
I agree whole hearted. Let the speech police squirm and whine. Now let’s look at ogive!
To me, a g is a g!

I've been laughing my butt off at all of these replies. Along the same line are those who make excruciatingly long rambling posts full of random spelling and capitalizations, inconsistent punctuation (commas. periods or just old ...) and spacing along with manic 'hahaha' and other wandering content that just makes my poor old head spin.
"The biggest problem with a closed mind is that it never comes with a closed mouth.

That is what I LOVE! Did you come up with that?

OK...what IS the correct pronounciation? Based on what I've read so far, I don't know how to pronouce it.
Despite my previous post about an old girl friend, I believe "Lew-pold" is correct. As another poster said, "Loy-pold" may be the German way but as many names become Americanized and subtly changed in the process...

Anyway, "Lew-pold"

edit to add; in the end it doesn't matter. Everyone knows what either one means in reference to scopes

Ohio issues a Concealed Handgun License. As far as the state is concerned, “CHL” is proper. But everyone calls it “CCW.” For example in a gun shop often the sales person will say “Do you have a CCW?” But if you tell someone you have a CHL the rest of the conversation usually goes “A what?” CHL. Concealed Handgun License. “You mean a CCW?” Yeah. “Well why didn’t you just say that?”

“CCW” is propagated in the many training classes available that are required before the license is issued, so CCW becomes the de facto proper terminology.

Whichever.

Non-gun people tend to say "Conceal and Carry" as in "How do you get a conceal-and-carry?"
